Just doing some reading about the direction Ford is going. Right now, V6 sales are more than V8 sales. CAFE standards. Been reading about an improved EB for the new models, a non-turbo V6 with direct injection, and possibly a 4 cyl. EB coming to the 150. The EB already outperforms the 5.0, the new v6 will probably not be to far off 5.0 numbers. I can see the 6.2 being the only v8 that survives.

Driven family members '12 5.0 screw 3.31 and a '12 5.7 quadcab 3.92 (both 4x2), I can say the 5.0 is more impressive.
Sounds way better (the hemi sounds horrible when it goes to eco mode)
Gets better mpg
The Hemi has an encrypted ecu and its a dog from a dig with no tuning to fix it. The f-150 just goes and loves to rev.

Im very impressed with the 5.0s power and sound.

You see the bad thing about that, most fleet vehicles are v6 so all of the fleets that ford sells goes into that number, and I'm not biased to a 5.0 hell I'm so old school I have a 4.6, but I think that the 5.0 is a peppy little engine, it'll sure make my dads 35's bark from about a 15mph roll

About 45% of F150's have the EB. That leaves 55% split between 3 engines (obviously the 6.2 is probably ony 5% so...)

With the fuel economy standards heading the way they are keeping the 6.2 as the only V8 wouldn't make sense. The 5.0 is here to stay partly due to the fact of it also being in the mustang.

Ford didn't invest in a COMPLETE reboot on the modular engine platform just to use it for only 4-5years. I actually think the 5.0l will find its way into the superduties as a V8 Ecoboost. Probibly smaller pistons for thicker walls and direct injection. 4.7L Ecoboost V8, wouldn't suprise me in the least, maybe a next gen Raptor mill. 3.5l EB + 2 cylinders = 485hp 560tq!

Smaller pistons, direct injection, and turbos? Then it's no longer the 5.0L Coyote it's now a 4.7L Ecoboost. Correct me if I'm wrong but you are arguing with yourself. ;-)
I'd consider buying one though!

I think what he is saying is that the 5.0 is a great block on which to build a variety of engine models. I too am looking forward to a small displacement V8 Ecoboost. There is a lot on the table with the GTDI engines.
