5.0 vs 5.7 hemi

Having come from a hemi Durango, and test driven a hemi truck before buying my 5.0, the Ford is better in all categories.
I have also heard rumors that the coyote will "outrun" the hemi on the street.

Regardless of HP numbers, just know that Dodge service is horrible. Stay with 5.0. Came from Dodge Hemi Durango as well. Loud, terrible gas mileage and poor customer service. I know my answer didn't answer your question but didn't want you to make the same mistake I did.

I love my 5.0 -
The 5.0 gets better mileage, is smoother, has better throttle response, and is sportier.
The Hemi is thirstier, has more low-end torque, and horsepower to spare. It should, given you're comparing a 350 to a 302.

5.0 is superior
I have a 5.0 in my 2012 F150 and it is bad ***! The R&D that went into the "coyote" motor is incredible. This dual overhead cammer likes to rev and pull hard and strong. I believe that Ford has under rated the HP just as they did back in the day with the 428 cobra jets. The gas mileage is excellent. I have gotten 21.3 highway and the average city/highway is 18.8. Use 91 octane and this motor screams. The motor is strong enough to accept an aftermarket supercharger that makes 525 hp without having to change any internal parts. As I said, this motor is bad to the bone.

The Hemi hooked to their new 6 speed tranny is probably a little quicker; I've been "outrun" by one before, but I've also closed that gap on one once we got to the top end. Where the 5.0L shines is that fact that it gets better mileage than the Hemi and the Hemi can only come close to the Coyote's number when its using its MDS active displacement technology or whatever they're calling it now. Once you hook a load onto the Hemi and it has to use all 8 cylinders all the time, you might as well just start throwing dollar bills out the window; that thing is an absolute pig when it's towing.

With 221 cubic inches, the Eco V6 would be spooling those turbos much of the time to compensate for the lack of displacement. Lift the hood on a 5.0 and you will see a clean V8 with aftermarket performance written all over it. Drive it and you will hear the sweet sound of 302 putting out a conservative 360 horses. Drive an Ecoboost and you may hear some turbo windup, but the growl of a healthy V8 is not there. Put 91 octane in the 5.0, add 3:73 gears and give it some wide open throttle, tach it to 6,000 and hold on. It is fun! About the 5.0 motor: it has 4 bolt cross bolted mains, a forged steel crank, windage tray, hi-tech block design and material and a 7.5 qt. oil pan. This motor can handle a supercharger with no problem. Read the review of the 5.0 at pickuptrucks.com. Ford is pushing the Ecoboost (cafe standards) but the sleeper is the 5.0L.
