5.0 v8 or ecoboost?

I'm not an advocate for either motor but I bought a 13 last night. I went with the 5.0 for 2 specific reasons. The 5.0 is 1,000 less than the ECO and I simply could not turn down the v8 rumble when I start my truck.

I have had both engines. My first was the 2011 ecoboost and now the 2012 Fx4 5.0. I was one of the unlucky guys that had problems with the ecoboost. The ecoboost towed my 27ft foot rv with ease, as does the 5.0. The ecoboost got slightly better MPG on the highway but not while towing, they were dam near the same. I did not notice any difference in the city. So far my truck has had ZERO issues (KNOCK ON WOOD) and over 30k miles on it already where as my ecoboost had issues at less then 9k miles. My coworker loves his 2011 ecoboost and has had zero issues at 20k miles as where my nephew has had the same issues as i did and his truck is at 14k mikes and is a 2012. it's the luck of the draw I guess out here in Washington. In a few years the ecoboost should be dam near flawlwess and with such new thechnology constantly appearing it will be the motor that all others will be chasing to catch up too. Ford stepped up and took a chance with these engines and is forcing the other brands to do the same, WAY TO GO FORD!!!!

Thanks for the reply. Ford came out with a game changer when they released the ecoboost engines. Reminds me of when Yamaha came out with the new yzf 400 fourstrokes in 1998. Go to a Mototcross event now and it's fourstrokes everywhere. Heck even i went out and got one, lol. Ford just needs to keep blazing the path and not let the competition pass them bye.

Not impressed with mpg of my Eco but I do like the power. My neighbor had an Eco similar to mine and his inner cooler failed and ford told him it would be June before they would have a replacement one. He purchased a 5.0 just like his Eco. He has had less trouble with the 5.0 but he said the mpg is less than the Eco along with the takeoff ability.
