I did a muffler delete on mine about a year ago. Best $70 I've spent on the truck so far

So you just took out the muffler so it is basically straight pipes correct?

It still has the cats and resonator, but it just a straight pipe after all that where the muffler was. Mine cost me a total of 20 bucks for the 3" pipe and I am a welder for a living so labor was free. Most muffler shop guys around here weld like Ray Charles and all my exhausts leaked on previous trucks. I sprayed it down with VHT header paint and it's holding up alright... I will have to touch it up in spring on the welds again.

Exactly the same set up on my 2013 STX 5.0. I started with a resonator delete first and it was not quite the sound I wanted, so I re-installed that and had the muffler removed and a piece of pipe welded in.

Are there any performance gains from this?

Most likely there is no performance benefit to this mod. The stock muffler is a straight-through design as well, with some baffles running at 90 degrees to the straight section.

I can't say I notice a difference in power. Also that being said, I'm not picky like some people on this forum are that can notice a defect in a truck the size of a pencil tip... I assume the resonator is just like any other straight through design muffler. So I'm sure theres a minute difference from eliminating the muffler and opening it up a little more. Though adding a CAI and a tune will all help each other tie together.
