Default All good

Picked it up today. Runs smooth as a babies bum. It is way quieter more than just the knock being gone. EVERYTHING is quieter? I attached the work order. The final conclusion was warped cylinder I guess.

I have a 2011 f150 same ticking noise at idle. I put it up on a lift to isolate the noise with a stethoscope. Noise while on the ground is louder at the front passenger wheel well. Up on a lift its coming from the oil pan. took it into the dealer they confirmed the noise and removed the oil pan. several Crank Bearings are marked up. it is still under Ext warranty
Ford is replacing the short block. there is obviously a known issue with the 5.0l either Bearings or Lubrication issue. It is not a normal sound.

I can't believe your luck getting it diagnosed and replaced so fast! Took me over a year. There's guys on here STILL battling with Ford. Glad that worked out so well! There IS hope! I am starting to think there is many problems with this engine. All with similar knocks on the right side. Many with the #4 cylinder. I just hope my new one wasn't from the same batch as my old one!

Does the "knock" come and go? Is it louder at certain times or does it vary? Mine seems to vary in loudness at idle. I don't hear it I the cab while driving at or during acceleration at idle. I strictly hear mine only at idle.

I'm glad to see some of you getting taken care of. I'm still being driven crazy by mine while I wait to see if it gets worse. The 2 dealers I dealt with don't consider it bad enough even though you can hear it 10-15 feet away clearly.

I got very lucky. All credit goes to my dealership Marchese ford New Lenannon NY
They have had the truck for about 2.5 weeks the job is easy to do but they have to document yhe disassembly of the motor with pictures and go back and forth with ford but I have a free loaner. I just wanted to chime in because I keep reading people saying don't worry it's normal keep driving it. It's definitely not normal. Good luck with yours

yes the Knock was intermittent when it got warm it would start but not all the time i got lucky when I took it in to the dealer that it was doing it so I left it running. they put it up on the lift and video recorded it and sent it off to ford. I know the 5.4 had Cam Phaser problems but this seems to be a common problem if you look through the mustang forums. I found TSB's for timing chain Tensioners and something with the serpanteen belt idler wheels but they verified that it was definitely coming from the rear of the engine and pulled the pan. It's been there for 2 weeks The service manager said the have to document everything as the disassemble the Engine for Ford

I did have a catalytic converter replaced about 15k miles ago due to an intermittent check engine light, but it never caused any rough running or noise.
90,000 miles on mine when it started

The weird part is that all the fixes on here are DIFFERENT! Mine was a sticking valve train and a scoured cylinder but no one will commit to an answer as to how it happened or what exactly the knocking was. Yours was bottom end. Another was warped block. Piston slap etc etc. Safe to say the shop was pumping out ****ty engines for awhile. I just hope mine is newer. It was a long block. Mine had more issues I think. This new engine feels different. More power and better mileage already and it isn't broken in yet?! Sounds smooth and quiet. A slight squeak in a new belt but I am pretty pleased with it so far. Plus the dealer did a FULL detail on my truck, inside and out with wheels. Was like getting in a brand new truck
