Thanks for the replies guys. I'm thinking of using the stock pipe from an 09-10 without the resonator or leaving the resonator and running new pipe from there. I would like to get a new tailpipe bent so I can keep the stock muffler and tailpipe in one piece so it could be but back on easily.

I took off the resonator and it made a world of a difference in the sound. The resonator is like another muffler.

Did you notice an difference in hp or torque. I was wanting to do the same thing but have heard that by taking the resonator off relieves back pressure hence loosing torque. Just wanted to know from someone that has removed it if there is any difference or just sound.

Just so you know when I removed the stock muffler and resonator ( all as one piece) it is absolutely straight through. If you had a stick you could literally pass it all the way through with no problems. So the only real change is the 2.5 -> 3 inch pipe. I didn't notice any change really. Except the sound.
