Scratch that. I see the link in your original post but it isn’t working.

I thought about having it sanded and clear coated again but I think I might just wet sand it myself, polish it and wax it. My only worry is that the area under the sticker is not clear-coated. Although it has been without the sticker for over 2/3 years and has been fine. Wish I knew somebody with a paint thickness gauge and I could see if that area is clear coated or not.

Vid is working now. I should have asked this earlier but what year is your truck? That looks nothing like mine.

Its hard to tell from the video but it really looks like someone taped the decal off and painted around it. The paint under the decal is glossy just like the paint around it so I think it is clear coated. But it’s also a slightly different color. This adds to my theory that it’s been taped off and painted. But it could also just be the fact that the paint under the decal has been somewhat protected while the paint around it has been exposed to the elements. Red is not a friendly color when it comes to things like this.

It's an early 2011, I think mfg date is april 2011, if i'm not mistaken. That's what is interesting. It's been without the "protection" of the sticker for a few years now. I'm so confused at this point with it, I think i'm going to take a gamble and just wet sand it and see where it goes. Truck is 8 years old and looks good still. Has some scratches and other things so just trying to maintain it at this point.

Did you buy it preowned? Starting to think its been painted and they masked around it to save the sticker.

It was a rental or lease if I remember right. It only had 11k miles on it when I bought it. There is no accident history of it, so who ever the rental company was probably painted it. The only thing is you can't tell it's different from looking at it. Thinking about buying a replacement sticker and trying to match it up to fill the gap. Didn't bother me at first but now that i'm going to do a full detail it is. haha.

Car rentals are no diff than dealerships, they recondition the cars before listing them for sale. More than likely they had a guy come on the premises an paint it there. Doesnt necessarily mean a wreck, probably scratches, etc that was too bad to use touch up paint.

Bought it from a dealership, which doesn't have the best reputation. Reason they call it a stealership.

Yes I agree. I also take off the stupid dealership advertising tag and dealership license plate cover. Not that I'm hiding anything of course, but I just don't like advertising what I have. Everyone can tell its a four wheel drive
