You're pretty much gunna get bashed because of peoples ignorance on the subject. It blows my mind that very few on here realize the difference between a spacer lift and lift gained from a replacement coilover. Let alone a full long travel swap, which I'm assuming will include custom fabbed mounting points in the rear also besides just a front swap, a roll cage, etc...this isn't the place to get you're answers on this topic.
Haha.. Exactly this ^

A long travel desert truck with "20 inches of travel" will be next to impossible to daily drive. There's a reason most of those trucks are trailered to and from race events. Also, starting with an FX4 is stupid. As others have said, go buy a base model, less crap to break, less money, lighter etc. At the end of the day, you're new here, you have gained zero respect, and now YOU tell US that we have no idea what what we're doing? Ohhhh the irony.
I have driven trucks with 18"+ travel on the street as well as desert and am fully aware what they are capable of.

Why would starting with a FX4 be stupid? Please elaborate as you seem to know so much. Do a bit of research before you answer as well so you don't make a fool of yourself.

Seems it was a mistake coming here for information. I have gotten help elsewhere and could care less if I have earned your respect.

No, it was a mistake coming here with a chip on your shoulder talking down to us with the constant "I can see you don't know anything about...".

Furthermore, you're answering my question with a question. Is it me trying to build this? Nope, that would be you. Let's go back to my original question, "do YOU know what a long travel desert truck is/is capable of" if so, what exactly? Also, what does it take to build the aforementioned truck? Seeing as we know nothing and you're this bottomless pit of knowledge, elaborate for us apparent idiots.

The FX4 is a stupid choice to start with for your idea of a build because you're taking away the benefits of 4x4 (traction etc) and keeping all the negatives (weight, when you remove all that your dash is going to look like a christmas tree) Also, the only reason to build a truck like you are talking about is extreme desert off-roading. The less electronics and crap to break, the better. That's the number one reason why an FX4 is a bad choice. Also, way more cost in an FX4 than a base truck. The base truck would also be a better starting point as it is much lighter, and obviously that's a bonus.
