4low operation question
Hey all this is my first post other than an intro, and I have a question.
I have a 2012 scab xtr 5.0 with eld. This is not my first 4wd vehicle and I have some off road experience.
Today for the first time I switched to 4L on a wet gravel road, just to try it out. It's the first time this truck has been in 4L. It seems that I was getting all revs and no speed, very much like a slipping tranny. In all my other 4wd vehicles, higher revs would match an increase in forward motion. This just didn't seem to be the case here. The truck would move slowly and not increase speed as throttle was applied, with a slight increase in speed at shift.
The only way to describe it is that the speed seemed to stay constant through each gear no matter how much throttle was applied, only slightly increasing from gear to gear. I never went higher than 3rd. No codes, no idiot lights.
Is this normal?

Nope. Just wet gravel. It totally gave me the impression of a slipping transmission. No TC activation lights, no warning light, no weird noise, just high revs and very slow motion.. Weird.

I'd say it depends. 4lo is basically all revs and little speed. If you got up to 40mph you would blow the engine probably.

I'm aware. Now try to get up to 40mph in 4lo. There is a reason I said if and probably.
I haven't tried it obviously, but would love for someone to tell me how fast 4lo can go. I wouldn't be shocked if it tops out much lower than 40.
