Default 4 Auto always delivers power to all 4 wheels

My understanding of the 4A setting is that it should only deliver power to the front wheels in the event the system detects slippage.

Odd thing is, anytime I switch to 4A, regardless of road condition or speed, the feedback screen shows that power is being distributed to all 4 wheels.

I can bring it up at my next service, but thought I'd check in here first. Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

Thanks!

It is working properly.

From the owners manual:

4A (4X4 AUTO) - provides electronic control four-wheel drive with
power delivered to the front and rear wheels, as required, for increased
traction. This is appropriate for all on-road driving conditions, including as
dry road surfaces, but is especially useful on wet pavement, snow, dirt, or
gravel.

I thought 4A was an on-demand 4WD system, not full time. 4H is full-time.

Dry, on-pavement driving shouldn't result in slippage.
