I noticed same problem on my '14 Fx4. Luckily we dont get rain here more than once a year so have had a problem with water leaking... mine however was filling up with sand. Had it replaced under warranty at dealer a couple of weeks ago during normal service..

Abu Dabai... My goodness, the memories-- I was almost out there last year for a project (from where I work). Spent three years in Bahrain- When it rained, it was like kids looking at snow for winter.. :) Yeah, can see sand getting in everything there...
Doesn't look as bad as the grimy green/black mold, Will try to post some pics if I can find...

I know that there is a TSB for it (for 2013 models at least), and my new to me 2013 FX4 is going into the shop next week to have the interior gutted and replaced.

Anyone gone through this? Did the leak stop after the TSB was complete?

mine was leaking. Just put some clear silicone on the under side of light. No leaks

mine was so funky with the mold and grime I got new one. (Dorman). Did learn to NOT soak whole unit in dish detergent and water as the chrome paint comes off (dummy me did same to one of the rear tail light assemblies and chrome came off. Did learn how to easily disrmantele the cargo light. Cleaned things up mice. Will repaint the chrome area, buy new gasket material, purchase two #8x 1-1/2” Trim schools and Hillman washers from Lowe’s. Plus two new #8 wide clips. New Dorman I used LED lights and sealed around it with clear silicon. (Remounted with screws and washers noted above.

Love fhe LED bulb in clear. Not worth the money for brake light if not already LED. Lumens About the same.

It wont leak there no more. 👍
