36 gallon tank, how large is reserve?
I have a 2013 Platinum Screw with a 5.0 and my invoice and all paperwork says it's got the 36 gallon tank.
I have never been able to fill it up past 31 gallons so I figured there was a 3-5 gallon reserved.
The other night when I drove to work it had just hit "0 Miles To Empty" and I figured I'd fill up in the AM since I had a reserve (and there were no open gas stations nearby). She sat in the parking lot all night. Overnight it dropped to 22 degrees.
I left work about 5am and drove about 5 minutes and all of a sudden I lost power and the dash flashed a warning message that I had no oil pressure (in addition to the icon for the empty tank which I mentioned above). I was able to pull over.
My immediate thought was I had an oil leak because of the fuel reserve. Got out with the flashlight and looked in and under the engine area but there were no oil leaks and the oil filter was clean! Only thing left was the low fuel situation and the temperature.
But I have a reserve, or do I? Now I'm not certain how much of the 36 gallon tank I can fill up and what kind of reserve really exists. Anyone know the real numbers? While I don't make it a habit of running on E, sometimes it happens.
In the end I had to call the wife and she kindly brought my fuel tank from the garage which had 2 gallons (I live 8 minutes down the road and I am still not sure why it took her 30 minutes). Poured it all into the truck and the dash immediate said "28 Miles To Empty" and she started fine with no oil pressure warning.

I've never had my truck that low on fuel but the wifes fusion can have anywhere from 2-8 gallons left in the tank when the dash read 0 to empty.
Its a very rough estimate of what you actually have left. 8gal left in an 18 gal tank on her car is damn near half a tank left. usually have about 4gal left though when it says zero.

Seriously tho, just doesn't sound right for tank size.

On my '13 SCrew Platinum, I've put as much as 35 gallons in it and MTE after warning was showing a few miles left as I recall. I don't know what you mean by reserve though-there int one. I just watch my miles to empty.

The mte calculation is an estimate based on what I figure is a weighted average of prior and current usage rates. You trusted a computer and ran out of gas.
I'm guessing this is a mistake you will not make again.
There is no reserve.
