Just gears for the front diff from ring pinion.com are about 320 then go ahead and add shipping. Then depending on where you live installation can range any where. You can keep your cheaper 200 dollar gears I'll go with Yukon if and when the time comes. And why the Hell would you not install a rebuild kit while you are in there. I think some of you may not know what you're talking about.
Just over $200 a set.
Also, you may not need a master rebuilt kit for the install if your truck is newer. Yes you will need some incidentals but not full blown master rebuild kit.
Did you even open up my link?

Well this escalated quickly...
Regearing is not in my budget, I appreciate all the insight on gearing because it's good stuff to know but we don't need to debate how much stuff costs.
I'll try to get this back on track but I may have lost the thread.

What else do you want to know? At this point it seems like you should know what your choices are. Smaller tire = less strain on your truck. Larger tire = more. Tune may have it perform better, but your truck is still pushing those heavier tires regardless.

Even though we all have our opinions I'm glad some ppl know what gears they are running. Most of my friends with lifts or 35s don't have a clue. I just shake me head and smile and wave while passing them up hill. One guy toyed around with the idea of 37s with his 3.15 or 3.31...whatever he is running.

I ran 35s on an old 97 with the 4.6 and 3.55s for a couple hundred thousand miles. I have to agree with the people who say your power difference wont be that bad; especially with the 5.0 from what I've driven them, they are very strong.

To put tire size in perspective, I see no real advantage in 35" tires on my jeep vs 33" I've been running for many years. That's the reason my bias is towards no large than 33" for my new truck when it arrives. As shown (3rd set installed a few wks ago), they're 33x12.5x15 GY MT/R tires on old-style Mickey Thompson Challenger (Alcoa) 8x15 forged wheels. With 4.56 gears, 4:1 t-case and ARB lockers, I have wheel well room plus more than enough gearing but no need IMO unless running trails such as California's Johnson Valley Hammers. Bigger heavier tires use more gas and tax the brakes too.
