Default 305/55/22 Anybody?

I currently have 275/45/22 on my 2011 Platinum Eco with 2008 Harley 22" rims. In the NYC roads my rims have taken a beating. I'm looking for recommendations on good all season tires with a rim protector in the current 275/45/22.

Or any comments on upping to 305/55/22 tires which with the higher sidewall would provide better rim protection.

Currently with the NYC stop and go plus my lead foot I'm getting 13mpg with the 3.5. Would not want to see the mpg's drop so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Also keep in mind the Northeast rains and snowstorms along with the 22,000 miles i put on the truck a year all on "paved" roads. I would love a performance tire since i like the speed in the summer but need the grip in the rain and snow. Don't have a garage or storage options so winter and summer tire changing is not an option.

Thanks
Moe

I have 305/35/24 on mine and the ride is not to my liking. You will be all over the road in the winter. If you catch a bump in the snow at the wrong speed an angle you will be sideways. I take mine off in the winter but the way it skips over bumps now it cant be good in snow.

I have the 305/40/24 and i love they way they look.. and in the sunny southern california weather they ride beautifully! just remember that increasing the width and height of the tires will negatively impact you mpgs even more, even if it is an inch.
