The steel body and 4X4 combined is probably costing you less than 1 mpg. The 3.73 axle is probably costing you about 1-2 mpg vs the more common 3.31 that usually comes with that engine. You have a pulling machine with the 3.5 combined with 3.73 gears. You might have one with the heavy duty payload package. Those aren't common.
Yea the truck was originally sold in Saskatchewan and judging by the bed, it was likely used as a work truck. Overall it's in great shape inside and out with low miles.

At least that puts my mind at ease instead of thinking there's something wrong with it.

Thanks for the info everyone!

These engines do suck fuel when loaded.

Last 2000+ overall mileage.
I ordered the Bilstein 5100 adjustable leveling shocks for the front and went ahead and got the rears too. I plan on putting 275/70-18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on it soon so I'm sure that's not going to help. They'll measure 33.2" which is 1.1" taller over stock. Thought about 285/70-18 which measures 33.7" but not sure.

The lie-o-meter is showing 15.6 as an average right now. With summer fuel and warmer weather, resetting the trip meter is about 16.5 mpg scooting around town.

the 3.73 rear axle will decrease mpg a little. But the 3.73 will give you better mileage while towing than a 3.31

I tend to get around 15.5ish according to the dash - which is actually always pretty close when I calculate it. '14 4x4 44k miles, stock height and tire size, I think I have 3.55's but wouldn't swear to it.

Check the label on the inside of the door for the axle code. Below is the post that helped me determine what I have.

18.2 so far on the tank I filled up this afternoon. There is very little stop and go travel, and most of the drive is either 45 mph or 55 mph. I have the 163" WB XLT HDPP with 3.5L EB. The rear axle is 3.73 with (mechanical) limited slip differential.

I would do that if I had one.. door was re-sprayed before I bought it and the sticker was removed. I have a copy of the original window sticker somewhere..
