3.5L EB Fuel Mileage???

Hey guys. I know this has probably come up a thousand times but I searched and didn't see the answer I was looking for quickly (I'm impatient).
I traded my 2017 Crew Cab, 5.5 ft bed, 2wd with the 2.7L EB for a 2013 Crew Cab, 6.5 ft bed, 4wd with the 3.5L EB. Mainly for two reasons...lower payment and 4wd. My '17 with the 2.7L would avg 20+ mpg (20.8 when I traded it in).
I know there are a few obvious differences in the two trucks:
*steel body vs. aluminum
*3.5L vs 2.7L
*2wd vs. 4wd
*5.5' vs. 6.5' bed
My question is what are you guys getting for fuel mileage? I've only had the truck for a few days and I expected to be in the 18 mpg range but I'm down around 14.5 mpg. Now there has been some sitting and idling so obviously a longer term will be more accurate. The dealership replaced the right (passenger side) turbo because it was locked up and I'm concerned there might be an issue.

Thanks in advance.

how many miles on the truck? the turbo may not be the issue here

What rear end does it have?

Mine has 3.73's and I get 16-18 in town, 12-15 on the interstate.

You know...I'm not sure the which gearing it has. Know of any easy way to tell? VIN code or sticker?

I usually see 16-18, some highway trips up to 20mpg. 3.55 rear end.

Found it...

Axle Code: L6 = 3.73 locker

I average around 15 mpg in my 3.31 geared 3.5 eco. It is also a 2014 4x4

What tires?

LT275 65 18 KO2s being heavier than P rated tires cost me 2 mpg around town. Not so bad on country roads or highways but still 1-1.5 down. And I drive like Grandpa.

These engines do suck fuel when loaded.

Last 2000+ overall mileage.

You should be in the 17-18 MPG range hwy. I wouldn't be surprised to see 14-16 city. You probably have very few miles on it yet out on the open road so about 15 isn't surprising.

The steel body and 4X4 combined is probably costing you less than 1 mpg. The 3.73 axle is probably costing you about 1-2 mpg vs the more common 3.31 that usually comes with that engine. You have a pulling machine with the 3.5 combined with 3.73 gears. You might have one with the heavy duty payload package. Those aren't common.
