Is the 3:55 gear ratio the new standard now on the FX4?

Keep in mind the previous two models had 3.55, 3.73 & 4.10s for over a decade. The 3.73 was the most popular in those trucks. This continued to be seen on lots of dealers in 09 and 10 that were responding to market and not paying attention.
A 3.55 with 6 spd transmission from 09+ has the same final drive ratio as the previous 4 spd 3.73 combo.
IMO, The 6 spd transmission was Fords answer to fuel economy. The only change to rear end ratio's that Ford made was removing the 4.10 as it's final drive ratio put it higher than before.

EPA ratings do not vary depending on "differing" rear end ratios...so customers getting 3.73's vs 3.55's vs 3.15's do not affect Fleet Averages ( I think this is true for fleet averages...know it is true for EPA ratings). Engine sizes "do" affect EPA ratings and Fleet Averages.
As for "decreasing sales" of Ecoboost F150s...Sold 100,000 for 2011...already over 200,000 in total sales (2011+2012) at this time in 2012.

They dropped 3.73 as standard in the FX4, its now a $570 option. I had to order in a 5.0 with 3.73 because like you all the dealers are ordering them in with 3.55 I believe to keep the MSRP down. Most people wont notice/know the tow rating is dropped by 2k pounds with the 3.55/5.0. Have fun with the 6.2 should be pretty sweet
