3.5 vs 6.2 F150
I have an 06 F150 and a Large camper. I don't need a 3/4ton or larger truck and I don't really want the cost or maintenance cost of a diesel.
I have heard good things about the 3.5 towing and little about the 6.2. I was hoping some owners good give me either insight or point me to some data that I can compare.
The ford site doesn't really compare the two very well, at least not what I found.
Thanks

The 6.2L has great torque curve so does the EB... hard to say which one pulls the best.
The EB will give you better fuel mileage while not towing, while towing my guess is it would be very similar.
How heavy is the trailer? How often do you tow it and for how long?

Trailer is between 8-9K lbs. Tow it a couple times a month. We generally camp within a 100 mile radius of home and pretty much flat country. Not many hills in eastern South Dakota.
And jcain the 6.2 is available in the F150 Lariats and the Raptor is considered a 1/2 ton as well.

8k - 9k is a BIG trailer for a 1/2 truck and I guess you know that.
The 6.2 and the EB got the same towing rating. You can get the EB with HD payload package which you might required with a 9k because the tongue weight is probably around 1000lbs.
The 6.2L is only available with Lariat in MaxTow, no HD payload.
Good luck

If you are looking for an unbiased response these forums are not the place unfortunately. To many people on here will push their particular engine regardless of pros or cons. Your best bet is to look at Consumer Reports or some of the auto magazines that do true comparisons. Engines on here are often just used as ***** extensions and the discussions often turn into ridiculous cockfights.

He knows that. I think what he was trying to say was that the 6.2 is also the go to engine for the gas powered heavy duties. So it should do well for your needs. That being said...the Ecoboost will do well for you also. I think between the two engines towing wise its kind of a toss up. It basically comes down to what you want out of the engine when not towing. I haven't seen many people that have complained about the 6.2. Everyone seems to love it. The ecoboost at this point in time is proving to have a few owner reported hiccups that are needing to be worked out by Ford. Go test drive both
