The rear E-locker is standard on FX4 and Raptors(4x4), and its optional on all other 2x4 and 4x4 models. As far as upgrading to a rear locker there are some aftermarket ones that will work,Tru-Trac, ARB air locker etc, but IDK if an OEM locker will work without modification to the axle, other than replacing the carrier.

Hmm...I know I don't have it, but would like it. I know nothing about it. Is it a mechanical system I can put in the differential to make this work??

The mod was back when you could only use the locker when in 4wd. The raptor was the only model at the time that would let you lock it in 2wd. Basically it is swapping out raptor parts into stock 4wd so you could lock your truck in 2wd.

I'm sure you could get all the parts to make it work but it would be an expensive route. Look into aftermarket ones and only if you plan on using it offroad. A LS may be better but with the computer programming in the new trucks supposedly it treats an open diff like a limited using braking.

Look at Randy's ring and pinion or 4wheelparts.com.

I'd go with that ARB! Been wanting that for a long time, tough, made for Australian outback.

Yes, they are mechanical. You can get automatic (not recommended for on road) or on demand either by electric switch or pneumatic switch such as the ARB the other person mentioned.
