Looks very good! I'm in the tire market right now. Trying to sell my Pirelli's that have 2k miles on them. I'm probably going to go with 285/55/20 with my stock platinum wheels. Deciding on whether I want the BFGoodrich AT or the Nitto, just can't pick one just yet, more or less I'll probably decided if/when I sell my tires.

I am very pleased with the look. These Nitto Terra Grapplers look much "meatier" than I expected. I think the 275/65/20 was a good choice for me.

Here are pictures of before and after.
Those give your truck a whole new look! Definitely a good choice/upgrade to your truck!!

Default Too skinny for what?

Off road I don't drive fast. Instead of slipping around up on top I look for a tire that chews down through loose mud or clay to get to a solid base for traction. Generally narrower tires with their greater ground pressure per square inch dig in better. Narrow also worked well back when I lived in shale.

Of course in sand or bottomless mud the lower ground pressure of wider tires is generally better. Here narrow tires will get the truck stuck faster.

Either way I prefer higher side walls for a smoother ride and protection of the rims from rock.

I'd be the first to agree wide tires look better and no tire does it all.

I've got 275/45r22 and I don't find that they look too skinny. Buuuuuuttt, I'm also not going for the offroad look and the tires are quite low profile. So not sure if that helps or not. haha.

Not sure if they'll help, but here are some pics (best I've got, because winter tires are on now)

I have 275-65-20 duratracs and I love them! When you think about it, 285 are only 10 mm wider and that's pretty much nothing! I went from 305-55-20 to them and I like skinny way better!

Do you have any scrubbing? I'm wanting to put a 2" leveling kit, but not sure what tire size to go with. Just a good all terrain tire, and something that looks really good. I'm thing BFG's, just need to figure out what size to go with without scrubbing and wearing out all my steering components.
(Not tire smart by the way)

Only had the tires less than a week, but have had a slight rub twice while making a sharp turn into a driveway and hitting a bump at the same time. So slight that I can't tell where the contact point is.
But that is without a level on my truck.
I have ordered a 1.5 inch level that I should have on in the next week or so. I prefer the fuller look of the fender wells but don't want to have rubbing issues.
Good luck with your tire search. I really like the look of these Terra Grapplers.

Thanks for the compliments on the truck's new looks.
The more aggressive tires make the fx4 actually look more like an off road truck.
I never did understand why they put low profile Pirellis on a 4wd. Don't get me wrong - I still loved my truck with the factory tires, but it looked more like a sports car.

I've got 275/65/20 BFG's with a 2" level and I still BARELY have a rub when turn the wheel all the way to one side.

And I think they look pretty good...
