That pump is almost 200 more than the one Eric is listing.

Nevermind, Eric was posting a sender unit, not whole pump. Got it

Great write up wb880. Thanks. You can also edit your first post to add the pump assembly part # there.

Don't think I'll be doing this mod but if I did I'd use this excellent write up!

You need a new pump due to the tank being deeper. The whole pump assembly is needed because it is sold as one unit with the metal rods and all holding the pump in the correct position in the tank. I bought the sender assembly through Eric's part numbers and realized it would not work. You can try jerry rigging the old 26 gallon assembly, but I don't want to take the chance that the pump will not pick up the fuel in the tank when it drops below 10 gallons.

Spend the money on the new pump and save the money on not buying a new filler neck.

Remember the new pump needs to be placed about 2 to 3 inches lower in the tank due to the extra height.

This hasn't been answered yet and I am also interested in the answer. So, once again, computer change from small tank to large tank? Or did you just not worry about it and let your computer show that you are getting awesome gas mileage?

As Far as I can tell the MPG calculations is not affected by the tank swap. The DTE (distance to empty) is what is not correct.

When I did my second fill up my DTE said 450 miles. As I am driving and the fuel level drops the DTE drops also, when it gets to about 200 miles till empty it slightly resets to 250 miles to empty ( it did this twice on my current tank so far. I figured it would do this. It did it to me even when I have the 26 gallon tank on it. I would drive a lot of city on the last tank and then do a higway trip. as I am driving on the highway and getting better milage the dte will reset higher throughout the tank.

I will let you guys know more as I burn through my current tank. I have a work vehicle so 30 gallons will last me a month.

Default Took the plunge

I did this upgrade to my 2012 Ecoboost 4x2 screw with 6.5 ft bed and went similar to wb880's experience (thanks wb880 for the motivation). Only thing I found different was the one white clip next to the sender/pump was unusable. When I measured with a tape, the new tank's clip was not centered the same between the two green connectors. Other than that, it went well and I just got home with that fun first fuel bill.

I tow a travel trailer with my truck and the 8 mpg was killing me with a 26 gallon tank.
