Thank you both, i like the idea of the marker lights since it will be the least invasive. I've got so much other stuff spliced and cut due to having retrofit headlights.

i used the driver side headlamp wiring. if you take out the air filter box (removing 2 bolts), you can unplug the wiring to the headlight. splice into the 3rd wire from the right or the blue/grey wire. I used a t-tap to splice in. it all took maybe 20 mins. check out this video -

Definitely the marker light. It's also the easiest to work with when the headlight is pulled out.

That looks really nice. I like the black letters with the red outside! I painted mine silver.
