Default 2015 Tpms on 2011

I just bought and installed a set of 2015 takeoffs on my 2011. The guy (dealer) I bought them from said the tpms came with them, but i really have no idea if they are there or not. I expected to get a low tire warning when I pulled out of my garage and got out of range of my old tires, but did not. My question is, if I do in fact have them in there do I need to pair them to my truck? Are they even compatible. I want to try to sell my old wheels, but I need to know if I should snag my original tpms out of the old wheels first. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you in advance!

The sensors are very different from the old style to the new 2015. Different frequency, shape, and everything. Your light might not come on right away, sometimes it takes a while. You might want to snag your old sensors....

Here's some more threads for reference :

Thanks for the insight. I went to a reputable shop by where I work to talk to them about it, and I did not get the feeling they Really had a handle on what to do. They did say that they break all of the time when go to change them out, and they are around $100 to replace. I am a little unsure of what to do. I don't want to potentially shell out $400 plus whatever they charge to dismantle and remount 8 tires. I will probably call the Ford dealer tomorrow and hope I get someone that knows what they're talking about.

The 2015 sensors will not work on your 2011. Take your wheels that have the 2011 sensors in them and the 2015 takes offs down to your local Ford dealer. Have them swap sensors from 2011 wheels to 2015 wheels. They don't have to fully break down the tire and wheel to change sensors. I always let the air out, break the front bead of the tire and then use a pneumatic tool on the tire changer that presses tire down far enough to access the sensor for removal. I also have never broken a TPMS sensor in 5 years on the bench so I don't know what that small shop is talking about.

The small shop probably wants to sell me my own sensors for $100.

+1, they don't break all the time, it's very rare to break the valve stem type sensor. And yes, you can remove the sensor from the wheel without fully removing the tire from the rim, with the method mentioned above. It's not that difficult.

Okay, hoping someone can clarify this for me then.

I had a set of aftermarket wheels (with aftermarket TPMS) on my '11 that worked fine.
Just upgraded to a '15 and kept the wheels but now can't get the '15 to recognize these TPMS. Are they now a different frequency? Literally just bought them like 3 months ago and don't want to fork over for four new ones...

... I DID read the thread where it says they're different frequencies, however when I look up part numbers for TPMS for each truck, several different companies say they're both 315 MHz, hence the request for clarification from someone who may have knowledge on the issue. Sorry to bug you.

According to Motorcraft both the old (2009-2014 - TPMS-12) -AND- the new (2015 - TPMS-35) ARE the same frequency (315 MHz), HOWEVER ... they cannot be interchanged nor work with/between the generations of F-150s.

Same frequency. Different electronics.
