Default 2015 date.

I just picked up my 2012 from the dealer for the "within spec" A/C (are you sensing my sarcasm) and my salesman told me the 2015 model will be released in January 2014. They will be the new model and be titled as 2015. Ford will build and stock pile the 2014 when they release the 2014 till January 2014. He told me the new model will be all aluminum and will be about 1000 pounds lighter. One of his other customers is a tool maker for Ford Dearborn assy plant and they have already made all the new dies for the new body panels. I find this hard to believe that they will only build the 2014 for a few months. This salesman is the best salesman I have ever had. He is the most knowledgable salesman I've ever bought from. So take this how ever you want. I'm still optimistic.

A little over optimistic I think. I'm wondering if ford is only going to switch one plant at a time and offer a 2015 "heritage edition" like they did in 04'

1000lbs is VERY optimistic also. The new all aluminum 2013 Range Rover (which is one of the platforms along with Jaguar and Aston Martin that Ford used to own; and gained their aluminum technology from) only saved about 350lbs despite their claims of 700-800lbs.

They will have to use aluminum on the axles, frame, helium in the tires and I still don't think it will get 1000lbs lighter, that's crazy.

I was going to wait to order a 2014 but dealer said that the 2014's order dates are being held back a bit since it's a quick run for the last year, so I got the 2013 instead and took advantage of the employee pricing, maybe in 2-3 years upgrade to the next body style after they have worked any of the kinks out.

Maybe it is true then. My lease is up in February 2015. I was hoping to get a really good deal on a 2014 to purchase. I don't want to lease again. But I can't afford a $50k truck. I guess I will go back to Dodge then.

Jan 2014 seems way too early to see any 15's

Normally mid summer is the earliest the next year models hit the lot. I've seen an Explorer and Escape last week that were 14's

Could be like the super duty when they redesigned it. There were no 98 F-250 or 350 except the few light duties made on the 150 platform.
