Odd, with the Max Tow you have 500# more GVWR than my EB 145" SCREW but only 100# more payload.

It seems to be getting more and more confusing. Looking at the second to last page here (http://assets.clickmotive.com/FordZ/...f/FordF150.pdf), if I am reading it correctly, I can pull 11,100 trailer weight with a GCWR of 17,100. I also understand a GVWR of 7700 gives a max payload of 1,840. Am I misunderstanding something or is there that much of a difference for the 2014?

I did not see what year your truck is. Maybe the payload has changed (or I am misreading the brochure).
What do you mean about the 'lower 15 percentile of EB owners'? Are you talking specifically about mileage?
Thanks again,

I think he means that only about 15% of F150's are Max Tow.

I have a fairly close package to you.
I was told by the dealer my build has the maximum towing rating of 11,300LBS
See specs below in signature, I'll attach a photo of my door sticker..

Max tow doesn't mean max payload. Max payload is your 8200 lb gvwr 7 lug trucks. Truck overall weight and gvwr however determine legal carrying weight. My screw is a loaded fx4 max tow and it only has a 1300 and something combined carrying weight... pretty low. My gvwr is 7700 but the truck is heavy.
My scab is much lighter and does not have max tow package and just has 3.55 gears. However the 6.2 engine gets you the 7700 gvwr regardless and thus my payload is the 1848 lbs. Much easier to stay legal on hitch weight on that truck over the supposed max tow crew cab My max tows max trailer weight is 11000 lbs and the 3.55 geared scab is 9700 lbs. Any 11000 lb trailer would put my max tow truck over its legal limit on the rear axle unless the truck had no one in it lol.
Really ignore the trailer weight rating they publish. Figure out your trucks actual weight, your maximum axle weights and your gross combined weight rating. Much more meaningful. My non max tow 3.55 geared xlt with a 6.2 would more easily stay legal on its max trailer weight.. gcwr is 15600... but theory here... whereas the same weight trailer on the crew would likely make my truck overweight by axle and payload. Fun stuff isn't it. Unless you want a trailer toad to keep your hitch weight off your loaded up truck... buy a lighter truck.
Look at it this way. My max tow 6.2 crew says 11000 lb for the trailer but I think my gcwr from memory is 17100.... Hmmmm. .. well to tow an 11000 lb trailer the truck can only weigh 6100 lbs. Pretty sure it weighs that without me in it.... So that 11000 number is useless in the real world. Just like my scab sorta.... 9700 lbs total trailer and and 15600 overall. That makes the truck 5900 lbs... which may leave some room but it's hard to say. If you need to tow that heavy buy a 3/4 or 1 ton.

I have a fairly loaded 5.0l, Super Crew, 4WD, 5.5' bed with 1582 lbs. payload, 7350 lbs GVWR, 3750 lbs front axle rating, 3850 lbs rear axle rating. The max tow package trucks must be really loaded because if they didn't have the higher GVWR, and the standard 7200 lbs GVWR, they would be of little use as a truck with such low payloads.

Badass69 and Mike Up,
You guys are hitting on my exact concern. If GCWR is 17,100 and truck, empty except for a driver, is 6,000 then I cannot carry any passengers AND tow 11,100. IF payload capacity is in the traditional sense (weight truck can carry above a full fuel tank and 150 lb driver), then (per the literature) I THINK I can carry an additional 1840 in the truck. Once I subtract passengers from that, the rest can be used for tongue weight.

'13 MY. Referencing fuel mileage. Mine averages low for all MPG reports of EB's. Also realizing the curb weight of my truck is likely on the high end, some of the negative effects are expected.
