I think the difference is the front lower control arm and different lower shock mount.

Since I'm new to trucks and 4x4 drivetrains.... And I'm looking at getting an FX4... Is that big deal? Or just one of those changes that differentiate model years?

I doubt that it's a huge difference but the new design might be a bit stronger.

Nice truck, don't get hope up on mileage, you'll set yourself up for disappointment. Just enjoy the truck for what it is. Mine hasn't changed from day 1. It's actually gotten a little worse..lol. I avg 13.6 with 50/50 driving. In fact all 10 new cars I've owned never got better MPG with more miles. I think people just hope/think it does and really doesn't.

I agree 100% hydro. I didn't buy this one because I thought it got good gas mileage but I was more curious. I don't buy a full size truck to worry about my gas mileage but anything is bettter than my 2007 5.4. That thing gets 10 MPG going down hill in neutral.

Same here.
2006 FX4 SCrew couldn't get 17mpg on the hwy to save its life. 12.5mpg all day long in town. While not the reason I upgraded, I sure am pleased to see a 20% increase in fuel economy as a result of my wants vs my needs.
