Well they are raybesto's brakes which had no indication of any sort on them. I feel I installed them correctly as its only one side that this happened too. Not to mention, what happened before I ended up changing them and finding this. I heated up the brakes a bit too much and noticed the old rotor had a bluish tint to it and I was getting a wobble in the pedal when I applied the brake. I had to stop suddenly and had the trouble since then. So I figured it was just a warped rotor.
Then after I installed the new pads rotor, this side was still giving me problems. Hence the photos.

Today I put the old rotor and pads back on and pumped the brake. Took it for a ride and did the comparison heat test from each front wheel. All seemed okay and the heat was equal or so it seemed. The passenger side maybe a touch warmer but not by much. So I took it all apart and installed the new ones again. Spun the wheel and it seemed a bit harder to turn than the drivers side. Took it for a ride. Seemed okay and the heat was again about equal. I took it apart and evenly filed the pads, installed everything again and spun the wheel while in the air and it spun with ease. Took it for a ride and it was all okay.

Ill have to keep my eye on it from here on out but Im wondering if the pads were a bit thicker???

BTW all the pads looked the same. They all just had 2 ears on them. I changed out the silver inserts as well. But ALL pads looked as pictured. All 4 of them looked exactly that way with no "left or right" indication on any of them.

We shall see what becomes of this down the road.....

Thanks fellas for the help.

If all the pads had the ears on top, then you were sold the wrong ones. Only one pad per caliper should have them.

I agree with this

The indication of left/right pads IS the ears!

Had the box been opened before you purchased?

These are the pads they sold me. They are the Raybestos EHT1414H Element 3.
According to the store I bought them at and on Summit Racing website they are correct for the '14 F150.

I paid the same price at my local parts store as Summit's price.

I really think the caliper is the issue. I took it for a longer ride today and I got a hot wheel again with a good amount of brake dust on the wheel compared to the other side.

I did more research last night and found that these Fords are known for caliper issues with them.

All I can tell you and I speak from experience of doing this, you need to have 2 pads with ears, one for each side and they go on the inside. Another issue I ran into and Ford verified it, the 3rd party pads I had put in, were too tight in the clips.

I just ripped apart the truck a few minutes ago. I wanted to check them again. I have to stand corrected and feel might embarrassed. I did install the pads incorrectly. I mistook it that the ears were the ears that set into the silver tabs. Never realizing the round ears on the spine of the pad.

Thank you fellas. I greatly appreciate your expertise. I had no clue and kept thinking the ears that the pad has for hooking into the silver tabs.

digitaltrucker How can you tell when they are too tight in the clips? What kind of problems are caused when they are too tight in the clips?

Again Thank you guys!!!! Greatly Appreciate your help and info.

I suppose I can cancel the caliper order I placed this evening. I will have to take it for a ride tomorrow to be sure though.

Glad you got it sorted, we probably could have been a little more clear on our help!

As far as your question to me, could have been just a line from Ford to justify the replacement of the pads I had in.

Good luck!

As mentioned, pads are installed incorrectly and the slide hardware may have not been tight enough.
I had the same issue awhile back when I put new rotors and pads on and for got to tighten the passenger side front pins to factory specs and the pads wore uneven just like you show.

Thanks again fellas. All seems to be working good now. Still feel a bit embarrassed about it all. But I havent worked on anything in a long while so I suppose thats one reason too. Im just glad it got corrected before anymore damage was done to the new stuff.
