I wouldn't want a small diesel. As said already, diesel is actually more expensive where I live than regular gas. I had a VW Jetta TDI and the maintenence on the diesel engibe was expensive.
Ever priced out new injectors for a diesel engine? It's crazy expensive and negates any cost savings from the projected fuel economy.

2015 seems to be the logical makeover year for Ford. Look at the past generations/body styles of the F150:
86-91
92-96
97-03
04-08
09-14 or 15.
Plus I'm pretty sure the whole "mandatory black box" **** is still in effect for 2015 which would make even more sense for Ford to wait until then.
