2014 F-150 Makeover
This is a re-thread of a recent (07/26/2012) WSJ article; however, the focus of the other recent thread, was soley on the composition of the body panels.
I think the larger point, is that the 2014 will be the M-Y for the complete makeover, and not 2015 as some have opined.
I was clued into this by a very good source of mine (not a member of this forum) who advised me about two months ago, that 2014 would be the changeover year, to fully compete with the new offering from GM.
Now that this article has appeared, it gives me pause to order a new '13, and instead, just hang on to the '09 another 10-11 months; and then getting the newest 2014 model with the newest innovations.
I would imagine, that not only will the shape and makeup of the body panels change; but there will be some other changes to the EB engine, and maybe the A/T, as well as improved MPG and also performance.
I discussed this with my wife today, and she supports any decision I make, but has offered that [she] would prefer to just wait a year and get the completely new '14 model.
For those of you who have opined that they would not change the grill and lights for just one model year; I would offer to you that this has been a technique used by both GM and Ford over the many years, to transition from makeover to makeover.
Even the '12 Silverado is advertised as having a new grill; with the makeover to be released very soon with the 2013 model. The average buyer, who does not belong to a Forum such as this one, never understands the upcoming changes until they are on the showroom floor.
I know there will be some negativity in this regard; some from the folks who just bought a new '11 or '12, and some from the folks who are fearful/distrustful of any change....you know, the 'steel' is best crowd, and the truck will fold like a 'soda can' folks.
However, my guess is, that with the new truck and a new Forum--2014 to Present--there will be a bunch of very happy new owners.
In order to compensate for the change in material, the (2014) F-150 will also have a more "muscular design," a Ford designer told the WSJ.

That's an interesting nuance....The next generation of the Ford F-150 pickup truck series expected in 2014 (as a 2015MY).
I wonder then, what happens to the '14 MY, if the '15 MY is the [true] changeover year, and it arrives in 2014?
