Default 2014 F-150 FX4 good deal for me?

Hey guys just like to say im new to the forum! As the title says im looking at a brand new FX4 and im curious on what you guys have to say and if there are things I need to know before I purchase!

Its a 2014 Fx4 brand new from dealer. It has all options, FX4 appearance package, NAV/touch screen, FX4 leather interior etc. needless to say its fully loaded. I'm looking at 2 particular models and the only differences between the two are color and one has 3.55 and the other has 3.73 gears. Both have the Ecoboost motor which I loved when I test drove(haven't drove a 5.0 yet). The dealer is also throwing in a level kit and bigger tires included with the truck if I purchase. I don't know a lot about them but as for my needs a reliable and well performing truck is what I need. Im an avid outdoorsman which include hunting, fishing, trapping etc. and I also travel a lot for work and do light towing(heaviest I tow is my camper long distances for work which is only 25ft and roughly 7-8000lbs.).

Is this truck for me? Im pretty much sold but one factor comes into play and that is the Ecoboost and its reliability issues ive heard of. I love the power and the mileage claims but given said that I want a problem free motor, cant be in the middle of nowhere and have problems and also I live in Canada and ive been told our cold/moist weather arnt good for the Ecoboosts. Thanks guys and hope to be a proud new Ford owner soon!

Did you grab the f150 brochure from the dealer? The last page has complete break downs of tow capacity with chassis and gear combos. 3.73 might be your best bet

Add the lift and larger tires and the fuel economy and power go right in the toilet.Better to use these mods to get a better price.

You tow 25 feet? If you drive a lot, the 3.55 gears will get you one mpg better. 3.73 is not needed for what you want and may not be faster in the turbo application.

And the Eco IS reliable. There were some hiccups in 2011-2012 but not for the new ones. Happens mostly in hot humid climates down south. The 5.0 has some quirks too like burning oil.... I put 40k miles on an Eco and abused it. Was bulletproof and 10k mile oil change intervals and heavy towing included. No issues, just power plus it was tuned 30k miles.

The one with the 3.73's comes with the max tow package as well. Volvodoc what do you mean by mods? The truck is brand new and completely stock and the 2.5 level and one size bigger tires is something the dealer will throw in if I want it. I can't see that hurting mileage too much especially if I go with the 3.73's. My old hemi never changed if not was better after I did the same thing.

Zx12-iowa by 25 feet I meant that's the size of my trailer lol. And I wasn't thinking 3.73's for being faster I thought it would be more practical given the bigger tires etc. As for the Eco I know what your saying and that is the motor I'm leaning towards, something about the technology behind it I just think makes it better. Plus that's the motor that is in both these trucks, if I decided on 5.0 I would have to keep looking at other dealers.

Personally I'd go with a 2" level instead of 2 1/2". Especially if you're going to tow or haul

The size of level isn't set in stone...I just want to fit 33's, it's my favourite tire size considering practicality and price lol

Yeah. I think 33s with a level look pretty good.
