Default 2014 Ecoboost Trans Temp (analog) Gauge Question

Was wondering why the trans temp gauge “resets” after turning off the truck and starting it back up [ex. getting gas]

Exact symptoms are as follows... truck gets up to operating temperature, everything is fine.

Say i I stop to get something at Lowes - I shut my truck off.

when I get back (5 minutes later) and start it, the trans temp gauge is back to zero, then shows operating temp in a minute or two.

normal?

the digital gauge shows the correct temp.

ive done a little research that suggests this is normal, just wanted to confirm with the experts here.

glad to be a part of this site and learn this truck inside and out.

2014 F-150 Ecoboost XLT 4x4 Super Cab.

thanks!

The gauge is slow to catch up. If you have the digital readout, I'd go off of that. This was after restart and a few miles of driving. Gauge way off.

Both temp gauges are dummy gauges. They are only there to alert when something REALLY goes wrong or is about to go wrong. They take awhile to respond to warm up and then will have a number on the high end of the temp scale that causes them to go up. Not accurate at all. The digital one is what you should pay attention to.
