2014 EB Downshifts on its Own going Downhill!
So we just returned from a vacation in the Smoky mountains. We were towing a 7x10 trailer with 2 motorcycles on it...I'm guessing about 2500 lbs. I didn't have the "Tow/Haul" mode on all the time because I didn't think I needed it. Of course when I did have it on, the truck's transmission became very active, shifting and downshifting on any uphill/downhill grades.
So on the way home, with the tow/haul button OFF, we were going down a 7% grade, and the transmission downshifted to 5th, then 4th gear! WTF Ford!? If I want to roll downhill at 80mph (or faster), I should be able to make that choice. I actually ended up manually shifting the truck into neutral a bunch of times so that the gearing wouldn't slow me down.
Also, on a different topic, I tried to use a plastic 5-gallon gas can to add in some gas, but the plastic spout would not push through the steel trap opening to the gas tank. What have y'all done to eliminate this problem? Thanks.

Lift up your rear seat and look for the white funnel attached to your jack.
You know, the one designed specifically for the capless filler neck, to deter the lower forms of life and the occasional vengeful girlfriend.

Did you have cruise control engaged? If so, it was shifting down to engine brake to maintain speed. If cruise wasn't engaged, I have no idea. Never heard of that happening.

1)When using cruise the truck downshifts to control speed.... It pisses me off so I usually put it in manual mode in 6th so it doesn't shift down.
2)never had an issue with ford funnel when filling with 5gallon jugs.

unless (or even if?) the road is straight, not sure 80mph on a 7% downhill with a trailer is very safe to begin with...
all it takes is a badly-patched culvert crossing, or a bump in the pavement to upset the truck and trailer... even empty a good bump will shake the truck pretty badly at 80mph, I wouldn't want to have a trailer behind...

I have gathered two things from your post:
1) You an ignorant driver who speeds while towing.
2) You are too lazy/stupid to solve a simple problem, and would rather someone else do the work for you.
Please don't speed while towing ( or ever) regardless of the trailer size/weight. Also read your owners manual, its amazing how it explains both your issues.
