2014 Driveline Clunk
#11
As I said above, I too feel like the dealership is grasping at straws. I’d try my best to isolate it to the slip yoke before springing for a new leaf spring (pun intended, lol). Search for the thread on a product called Neolube. I’m pretty certain it was this very forum where I read about it. I have some myself that I intend to coat my slip yoke with but as mentioned earlier, for now at least, my clunk went away with removal of the rear lift blocks. I still plan to remove and coat mine when I have time.

Thanks for the reply. I am 100% sure it went away because of your traction bars. I know over on the Raptor forum, the guys get a lot of wheel hop/ axle wrap on stock leafs but it is eliminated with Deaver springs. This is why I'm somewhat inclined to believe I am getting excessive axle wrap which could be leading to the bump feeling when I accelerate/ decelerate (I can feel the loading and unloading of the spring), which I guess could be bad bushings?? That's what I'm not sure of... The bushings at the shackle are cracked a little bit for sure. I do not tow or haul 95% of the time and typically dont do a lot of rough off roading.

Several months back, Neolube was being discussed with regard to slip-bump. By all accounts, it's supposed to be the hot ticket. The next time I have a "clunker" I'm going to try it.

I have a 2013 5.0 and ever since I bought it used, I notice that accelerating from a stop, if I don't accelerate very specifically with perfect pressure, it seems the truck will jerk, but no loud sounds with it. Also, if I am driving and let off the gas to coast, and return back to the gas with more than very very slight pressure, the transmission jerks again.
Also sometimes when coming to a stop it will jerk and feel like I was rear ended, the first time it happened I was 100% sure the guy behind me ran into me lol
Is this the slip yoke issue you guys are talking about? it has almost 100k miles. Is this damaging to the trans, should I pay to have it fixed? It seems after quick reading that it almost always comes back.

That description of feeling like you got lightly rear-ended is perfect. It happens right as the truck reaches a complete stop and the rear suspension settles. Yes, that's the slip yoke bump we're talking about. It will not hurt a thing but is obviously annoying. This is something that has been common in trucks for a long time

2014 FX4 F150 Ecoboost 60,500 miles. I know this has been beat to death, but I cant seem to find my exact situation/ answer... Truck went to the dealer ship and had the slip yoke TSB performed and clunk came back in less than 500 miles. They seem to think my leaf spring bushings are worn out (and they did show me some spots of wear on the clips and some wear on the bushings), but replacing the leaf springs should fix it. Due to a ton of other issues I had for other items of concern (and problems with the dealership itself) , Ford is covering $470 of the replacement and it will only cost me $300 out of pocket.
Has anyone else found this to be the solution to this problem/ have any input? I have a GoPro that I want to mount under the truck to see if I'm getting a ton of axle wrap, since this is what the suspect is happening... Can they really by that shot when I started getting problems at 50k miles??

I recently was trying to diagnose a similar clunk in my 2014 (coincidence?) and even after doing the slip yoke fix it was still there. I ended up replacing both leaf springs (I went to 3/1 springs and removed the block) and that has cured the clunk. The truck feels so much more solid with the new springs. I think the old springs were wore out and I had excessive axle wrap. I've never had to replace leaf springs on a truck before and only have 70k, but it solved my issue. I bought the springs from rockauto for $400 to my door and put them in myself. Hope that helps.
