I returned to stock and it's just terrible. Sooo gutless. The thing about the 5.0 over the Eco is that you do have more options for increased performance. But straight off the floor the Eco is better than 5.0. For power and towing. As strange as that sounds. Imo.

And just so you know, with the tune on the 5.0 I can smoke the stock Eco. And I still get 15/18 mpg. Which is close to what the Eco gets, they may get an extra mpg. ( at least the one I'm comparing to that belongs to my buddy. )
Since I will buy used it will probably be out of warranty based on mileage when I get it. I am planning on 5* Tunes either way, so now it comes down to a tuned ECo vs tuned 5.0. With the 5.0 I'm worred about going down the rabbit hole of goodies from Stage 3- throttle body, Boss intake, etc. With the Eco, I think a tune and exhaust and I will have my bases covered. Most of my driving is around town, so I would feel the low end power much more than the high end on the 5.0, I cant go WOT to often on the street.

How many other things would I have to upgrade to run a supercharger. At 6k-8k any other upgrades will be a must if need be. I've read that I will def need a better oil pump to keep up. Also how would it hold up to daily driving such as sitting in Houston traffic for an hour and half? I've looked up them and originally wanted to go supercharger but then read a few bad things about them as daily drivers so I then thought turbo. I'm still not sure the pros and cons of each as daily drivers. Do you have any thoughts for eithers benefits as opposed to the other?

I try my best to not give Ford a reason to void my warranty. Because, well, thats just my luck...

Turbo not gonna yield you any better dd. You will need to upgrade fuel pump. But if if keep the levels low enough. No need to upgrade oil pump. I'm sure there are many SC trucks as dd. The older ford lighting was a SC dd truck. I have a SC mustang that I could dd if I choice. However 9mpg city isn't ideal for me. On hwy drives I get 18mpg. Elebrock make a nice SC. If I was to go root style. I would go with whipple if they make one for the f150. I never looked into though.

I just dropped some cash at Stage 3 on Airaid CAI, 5*, solo exhaust and 85 mm tb. I will say that woke up my 2013 5.0 some. No Dyno yet but it feels more powerful but part of that is from the shift points change in the tune. It revs higher between shifts to get into the powerband. It is much louder than I wanted but I ride a Harley too so pipe noise isn't a big issue for me. In town driving is sane and mpg hasn't suffered.

I have had this set up on for a week now and am still getting used to it. I can't say for sure about total mpg yet. My goal was for a bit more torque for towing. I was told to stay away from the boss intake if you want tq over hp. It is fun to put the pedal down though with the new mods. Maybe long tubes next if I keep the truck who knows?

A plug for Stage 3. Those guys gave me great customer service and answered all my questions. Shipped fast and was all complete. Easy install on all that stuff.

That truck was a pretty penny after Gearhead Fabrications came up with everything then MPT tuned it. They have a thread on here with the build. If you're wanting to spend a little less than a supercharger, look at procharger. I believe they are a vendor on here as well. They have kits for our trucks just like the supercharger. It's less parasitic loss than a SC, but delivers the low end better than a turbo with lag.

Well you did the low hanging fruit for the 5.0. Your lack of low end is just the nature of the beast-how it's designed... So you are on the right path in seeking a power adder. Many have done this on the 5.0 with what I would call amazing performance results. They claim reliability and little sacrifice on mog. Downside is of course the material cost. So I think you are on the right path to decision any options.

Best of luck.
