2013 vs 2010...in some ways it's gotten worse

well, that's a shame.

I traded my 2010 Lariat for a 2013 platinum 2 weeks ago. In some ways the truck has gotten worse.
The myford touch system is frustrating. I miss physical buttons for the heated and cooled seats. When I get in a freezing cold truck I want to turn the heated seats on NOW, I don't want to wait for the computer to boot and display a virtual button on the screen, which by the way has a serious lag time between pushing and response. I've pushed climate control virtual buttons with no response, like trying to blow warm air on my face this morning. Bluetooth streaming worked much better (like perfect) in my 2010, it's unusable in my 2013. I've gotten multiple navigation errors involving the memory card being unreadable. The navigation system as a whole looks a generation older than my actually older 2010 system. What happened to the pretty 3D display where you could see the horizon on the map? I really liked the mix of physical buttons and screen controls in my 2010 and in general I think the new myford touch relies too much on the touchscreen.
And the ride...you'd think the platinum would be biased towards a comfortable ride, but those 20 inch wheels definitely harshen the ride over the 18s on my lariat, which was like riding on a cloud. I can't imagine what the 22s on the limited would be like.
I've put 500 miles on it, so not a lot obviously, but the ecoboost mileage has been pretty horrible, like worse than my 5.4, but I'll save that for another thread.
Wow after 3 years on the forum I think this is my first negative thread. While there are some definite improvements in the new trucks (the center information screen is great, the HID lights are awesome, and my 2010 had some rattles the new one doesn't), if I could go back to my 2010 at this point I think I probably would.

Why not tie the heat seats to the remote start?

Thanks for this report, eye. I also like some buttons more that this ridiculous software stuff! And, I too am a computer geek. Sometimes I think those old boys up there (or wherever they are) need to just ask us! Before they make too many changes, that is.

The MFT problems you speak of are exactly why I got rid of my 2011 Explorer and got a 2012 F150 with just sync and not MFT. Sync works pretty well when it’s not combined with MFT.

Ford underestimated the processing power and memory they would need in the Nav units IMO. It's why I didn't get nav, but still got MFT.

I went from a 2010 regular cab XLT to a 2013 supercrew FX4. The SYNC features have dramatically improved since 2010. At least with the 2013, I have no problems saying, "dial XXXX". The 2010 would always get the name wrong. I do think the paint job (quality) on my 2010 was better than my 2013. My 2013 has horrible orange peel on it.

MFT on my Explorer has gotten better since I first purchased. Now my biggest gripe, like a lot of others, is the heated seat button. When I get into my car & it is frigid cold, I want to hit a button. Not go thru 5 clicks on a touch screen that barely works thru my gloves.

Don't Touch the Trim
Lack of all the automatic doo-dads is why I bought an XLT. I'll decide how, when and where I want my heating and cooling adjusted with real buttons. The google nav on my phone runs rings around most car based systems and it never gets obsolete.
The only thing I miss is heated seats, but with cloth, it's not as noticeable on cold days as leather.
