Default 2013 vs 2010 F150...in some ways it's gotten worse

I traded my 2010 Lariat for a 2013 platinum 2 weeks ago. In some ways the truck has gotten worse.

The myford touch system is frustrating. I miss physical buttons for the heated and cooled seats. When I get in a freezing cold truck I want to turn the heated seats on NOW, I don't want to wait for the computer to boot and display a virtual button on the screen, which by the way has a serious lag time between pushing and response. I've pushed climate control virtual buttons with no response, like trying to blow warm air on my face this morning. Bluetooth streaming worked much better (like perfect) in my 2010, it's unusable in my 2013. I've gotten multiple navigation errors involving the memory card being unreadable. The navigation system as a whole looks a generation older than my actually older 2010 system. What happened to the pretty 3D display where you could see the horizon on the map? I really liked the mix of physical buttons and screen controls in my 2010 and in general I think the new myford touch relies too much on the touchscreen.

And the ride...you'd think the platinum would be biased towards a comfortable ride, but those 20 inch wheels definitely harshen the ride over the 18s on my lariat, which was like riding on a cloud. I can't imagine what the 22s on the limited would be like.

I've put 500 miles on it, so not a lot obviously, but the ecoboost mileage has been pretty horrible, like worse than my 5.4, but I'll save that for another thread.

Wow after 3 years on the forum I think this is my first negative thread. While there are some definite improvements in the new trucks (the center information screen is great, the HID lights are awesome, and my 2010 had some rattles the new one doesn't), if I could go back to my 2010 at this point I think I probably would.

Ive heard the eco engine needs some time to break in and learn your driving style till it can start getting good mileage.

I remote start, but that doesn't help with the heated seats unless its below 35 (then they will turn on automatically). I hate all the delay (welcome, "accept"button for Nav,) Usually I'm backed out of wherever I am before the rear camera display even comes up. I didn't know the ac/heat seats were touch screen, thats unfortunate. now if one thing goes out, the whole assembly needs to be replaced (maybe its more durable)

I've heard alot of issues with the MFT/touch screen on the 13s (SuperDuty is no different) and the NAV/GPS impacted (no pun intended) by wheel/tire changes. I'm not too excited about the 2013s right now, and 2014s are around the corner. I know Ford is looking into a fix for some of this, but I think the delay is there forever.

Mileage will get better at 2,000 and 5,000 for sure. At 9,000 and slowing it down on the highway and easy/light pedal work I'm getting 18+ mpg AVG per tank (650+ miles).

Thats sad to hear, is the dealer involved yet? Thats my only fear is having to reroute my day for warranty work or burn a vacation day. I hope it gets better once the bugs get worked out.

I went from a 2009 Lariat w/navigation to a 2013 Lariat w/navigation.

I agree with you on the button issue. The new My Ford Touch is nice in some respects, but the startup lag that happens sometimes (often?) and lack of hardware buttons for some things is annoying.

I had the Nav SD card error, I had to reset the system (its somewhere in the options) and it has worked flawlessly since.

The ecoboost MPG gets better, the first ~1000 miles on my new ecoboost I was getting like 1-2mpg worse than the 5.4. Now it has settled to about even. Hopefully this summer it will peak a little bit above what I was getting with the 5.4

And kind of ironically, I went from 20" wheels on my 2009 to 18" wheels on my 2013 and I agree with you in that respect as well. I can definitely feel a difference in ride quality between the two. The 20" wheels seemed to handle a little better, but the 18" wheels definitely ride better.

Couldn't be happier with my 13 over my 10. But then I don't have mft with nav.

i had a 2012 platinum and the nav in it SUCKED compared to my 2013.
the Delay, god it was terrible.
my 2013, there is NO delay!! i crank and back instantly and it's on.
as for the accept button, that is no longer on the '13s.

IMHO, the 2013 MFT is hands down better than the previous!

Saw the title of the thread. Didn't think we were referring to trucks! Still applies

I think the MFT is prettier. I kind of like the new map style. But I haven't upgraded yet and would agree that having a lack of physical buttons for things I use frequently would probably be frustrating. ie: I increase/decrease the air flow on my chilled seats depending on whether or not the sun is shining on me. And it's nice to be able to shut the display off at night without having to fumble through a menu.

This is my 2nd ecoboost and I have to admit that I could care less which engine I had. From a numbers perspective (for what I use it for), both perform nearly identical. Part of me wishes I had the 5.0 so the truck would feel heavier on the road but I haven't been disappointed with the Eco. I think I'm waiting for the next generation before upgrading again though and I have my fingers crossed that they'll finally have the MFT resolved by then.
