2013 SYNC w/MFT Update
Hello. I have never had any issue with SYNC or MyFordTouch until I updated my iPhone. It still works, but occasionally the phone won't automatically sync upon startup or Bluetooth connectivity is sketchy. Now there are updates for SYNC that I am supposed to buy a jump drive for to load onto the truck from the Internet.
Has anyone else done this? Any advice? Is dealer intervention required at any point? Thank you in advance.
I have searched a few threads but haven't found specific answers.

1. If you updated your phone, delete the phone from Sync and delete Sync from your phone. Go through the re-pairing process and see if that helps.
2. The update fixes quite a few issues with MFT if you are referring to the 3.7.2 or whatever number it is that was released in late 2013. I heard that some Canada vehicles got another MFT update that those of us in the US did not get. I would definitely advise to to do the updates. They make big differences

Awesome. I never thought to delete/re-pair the phone again. I will certainly give it a try! Thank you so much for the speedy reply!

Yeah repairing them helps. The update according to SYNC a few weeks ago was for the trucks wothOUT MFT. As for updating yes you can do it with a jump drive. Think you need a 2G sized (can get them for less than $10) or the dealer can do it for you. I also think if you call SYNC they will send you a jump drive with the update already downloaded to it.

According to the email the jump drive has to be formatted for Fat32 files. Now I'm fat, but I haven't been 32 for 14 years. As you can see, I'm about as technical as granola.....I have no clue what that means or how to find out if a jump drive is Fat32

If you are using Windows, plug the drive into your computer. When it appears as a drive letter, right click on it and choose format. A box will pop up that has Fat32 as an option.
Do that and then go to the Sync website and it will install the files and then you can go to your truck with the drive and do the same. The 3.7 update makes a BIG difference.
