Recessed has to do with how the brackets mount. Nothing you can see from the dash.

It has to do with the mounting brackets, not the screen itself:

Hi everyone. I am back in the market for a F150 after selling my 2010 some time ago. Bought a '18 expedition and LOVE the Android Auto integration. Budget for new truck probably makes the 2013 my best best for finding the 4x4 I want. I was looking at how muhc/hard it is to upgrade the Sync 2 from the '12 to a Sync 3. I saw https://www.ebay.com/itm/2019-2020-F...ty!92629!US!-1 and sent them a message asking if they are able to program it for a 2013 VIN. He replied:

"No, unfortunately if you went this route you would have issues with battery draining. Gen4 units don’t do well with pre 2015 vehicles"

So, would I need to get the Sync 3 from a pre '19 F150? Are the '17-18's considered Gen 3 Sync 3? Has anyone else had issues with battery drain?

Yes, you want Gen 3 from a 17-18. The 19 models have new calibration (firmware) that favors CGEA 1.3, which is why the battery can drain (the backlight on the screen won’t shut off).

I believe mine came from a ford flex.

Default Touchscreen issues

I know this is an old thread but I just did the upgrade and I am having ghost touch issues. Can this be an upgrade issue, or is this a hardware issue?
