Default 2013 Powerfold swap out for Tow powerfold?

I wanted towing mirrors on my truck, but since I was picking from 2013 inventory in April of 2014 I couldn't find one that matched my criteria. What's involved in swapping out my factory standard-size power fold mirrors for OEM power fold/telescope towing mirrors? Is it plug and play or is there cutting and splicing involved?

Also, if swapping OEM for OEM isn't feasible are there any good after market options?

Should be just plug n play. I know many members have switched from manuel fold to power fold with only needing to change the switch. I know Yuke has a set for sale in the classified adds and the switch that comes with it.

I call dibs on your standard power fold mirrors if you put them up for sale.

I dont think the manual fold to power fold is direct plug and play. Last time I saw a thread on here it was a days work. You will have direct plug and play for the folding, just not the power extend.

Why are these things 1500 bucks? Thats a highway robbery

I guess I was a little off on the plug n play from manuel to power fold. Two wires would need to be run. Best bet is to call a dealer and ask.

Not looking to swap out manual. I'm wanting to swap regular powerfold to towing powerfold.

Power fold option will work. However, the power telescope and the marker lights will not. There is a good write up on here that walks you through process but it's definitely not a beginner project. What some people have done is purchased the mirrors from Tasca ($1600 for the pair) and taken them to a car stereo shop to have them installed ($400-$500). Not a cheap swap that is for sure. You should be able to sell your OEM std mirrors for about $300-$400 on eBay.

I can do the work, but holy sticker shock on what these oem mirrors apparently go for. Especially when the regular ones are a quarter of the price!

I found a set of them for $175 each. They're both textured black so they can be painted. They do have the puddle light and everything. Call Ali at 800-628-2772 tell him they're for a 2012.

Aftermarket has been very slow to come up with a set of powerfold tow mirrors to force Ford to become more competitive. I did this swap on my 2013 f150 (which I ended up selling a month later due to a deal I could not pass up) and it was not that hard, just time consuming. TASCA was the best deal I found when I did this earlier this year but their May be other places that are more competitive now. Basically an F250 mirror with 3 posts instead of 4 and a different connector.
