Someone had mentioned that Ford will introduce some limited editions for 2014 along with LED bed lights.

As the '14 will be the last of the current model type ('09-'14) with the full-makeover 2015 model coming out in the fall of '14, you can be sure there will be some 'trick' change or changes over the '13 model.

This is a marketing ploy used by manufacturers over the years, to generate/maintain interest in the final MY (old style vehicle) before the new metal comes out.

There is usually always at least one notable change on the exterior to set it apart--e.g., maybe an LED light strip around the headlights, or maybe (and/or) LED tailights, or even a grill change--or, as you say other LED's on the body? Then they usually throw in at least one other new feature in the interior layout to gain attention--e.g., keyless start, a new enhanced sound system, or some new trim, to make the previous years appear dated.

The dealers usually get the Top-Secret new model year spec-sheet at least three or four months [before] the order banks open; therefore, we should be getting some solid/helpful info within six to eight weeks, similar to what we found (from a very helpful member high up at a dealership) with the two previous MY trucks.

In any event, time does seem to fly, and in just a little over four months from now, we will be seeing threads--I just ordered my new '14.

For me, I want to be one of the [first] in the new thread--I ordered my new '15 EB FX4!

because next April is the 50th anniversary of the Mustang and they are ramping up to have the 2015s on sale in April of 2014 to commemorate the anniversary.

Yes.

In essence, the production dates are not all that late for the F-150, as are the production dates, somewhat earlier, for the new Anniversary Mustang.

Also, you spread out the corporate 'hype' and product excitement over the new Mustang; and next, the all new F-150.

It will be interesting to see when Ford stops production of the 2014's and what the dealership inventory will be. I am hoping for some sweet incentives to clear out the 2014's and my plan is to get a 2014 with some new enhancements. (maybe a special edition)
