Default 2013 OEM HID install

This seems like a dumb question but I wonder if anyone else has encountered this problem.

I purchased the 2013 OEM F150 HID to H13 Headlight Adapting Harness from ProjectoRetrofits and OEM HID Headlights from Ebay (thanks to tips on this forum!).

The install went pretty smooth except for one issue. Neither the left or right connector will seat or snap in on the main plug to the new headlight. The running lights and turn signals snap right in. I've checked the male pins on the headlights and they are straight and gave it a shot with dielectric grease with no luck. I'm afraid to apply too much force and trash the connectors.

I've used the contact link on the ProjectoRetrofits website but was hoping to figure it out and get some functional lights this weekend. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

As I recall the connectors have a stiff fit but to be certain check and make sure the connector has only 1 weather pack seal, sometimes when removing connectors the seal remains.

Thanks Rnlcomp, good idea but unfortunately no seals in the way. Not an expert, but I've done a handful of headlight installations and I've never had to apply as much force as I tried with these, with no luck.

Pure speculation, but wondering if either Ford or ProjectoRetrofit used a slightly different plug.

Otherwise, the harness seems top notch and the install is simple. I did end up opening up the passenger side ground connector to slide in vs. remove the ground screw on the radiator support. Real tight clearance with the battery box.

Had the Same problem with mine the plugs went in but did not snap in fully. So I would have power but was not sure they wouldn't fall out. What I had to do was on the harness the white piece inside of the plug part I had to try and push that in as much as possible with my finger to make sure it was seated all the way. Then when I went and plugged it into the headlights (still had to use more force then I would of thought needed) they snapped in place.

Hmmm??? Not sure what the issue could be? I also bought 2013 HID's off Ebay and bought the harness from projectorretrofits.com and mine plugged into the factory harness no problem.

Thanks, I'll give that a try tomorrow. I was giving it about all I had to seat them but it's disconcerting with $950 headlights in the mix. I even used a finish nail in the female end to try to open them a touch. It's pretty chipper out in central Iowa too - perhaps I'll give the female end some hairdryer treatment.

I was discouraged as well after spending all that money and wait time to get it. Then it didnt go smoothly luckily afterwards it went in and i love the light output of the lights.

Yep! I purchased the same thing but from Projecto Retros for both the headlights and relays. Well they didn't snap on fully and after another relay was sent to me it still did not snap and fully connect.

I returned it all for a full refund. It is was very painful to have to send it back but for 100% plug and play it should have secured fully. Oh well

A couple other things for those planning to install this kit. I can see why one of the instructional Youtube videos had a broken plastic pin where the Morimoto ballast attaches. You're going to want to use some care on this unless you want to track a replacement down. Just align it as straight as possible and go slow.

As mentioned before I recommend taking a notch out of the passenger side ground loop. I'm not sure I could've replaced the ground bolt if removed. It's very tight on this side. ProjectoRetrofits if you're listening an open connector on this side would make it easier on folks. Other than that it's about impossible to not install correctly.

So QC did you end up with another option for HID? Starting to wonder what I got into.
