Time to get the update.

Boost :)
The MFT Nav has been perfect in both my truck and my wife's Explorer for well over a year now. All voice commands are flawless too. I frequently send destinations via MapQuest to the truck and use mine almost daily. I understand some have issues, but they have been problem free for us since day one.
I agree that using a Garmin or other Nav would be cheaper, but as much as I travel and use the Nav, it is a constant irritant to pack it and take it with me, remember to remove it at hotels so it won't get stolen, etc etc etc. The convenience is worth it for me. I've got a Garmin for the rental cars I frequently get too and I constantly look forward to getting back in the truck and getting back to the MFT setup in the truck. Garmin works and gets the job done absolutely, but my preference is definitely the MFT Nav.
If that means I gotta pay 50-75 bucks every year or two for a Nav SD card update, then so be it. Small price to pay for me. And truthfully, i would be perfectly fine with waiting until the A6 or whatever is after that. Very rarely are there places or locations that it doesn't find already and I cover about 80% of the state of TX in my travels for work.

My wife's brand new Explorer Sport had the tracking issue where the Icon would be off the road I was driving on. After reading the forums, I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes or so and it fixed it. I guess it is a hard reset.

Are the SD cards VIN specific. If not, shouldn't be able to copy them?

They are not VIN specific, but they do have some sort of write protection or inability to allow them to be copied. I put mine in my wife's car and vise versa and they both worked perfectly fine. I have never gone as far as to try to see if it can be read with a card reader on a PC, but I have read in a few places that they have some sort of protection on them.

Just picked one up at eBay for $50. Genuine, not a copy. I have the A3 on mine.

I just checked mine................ its A4. But I did notice a switch on the card. I would assume its a write protect, although the card says 'read only'

I bought my truck in February and it was working fine till last week when I needed it most, go figure.
Someone mentioned Nav in a GMC product but Ive NEVER had one problem in my Camaro.

I use the navigation on my cell phone, works great, doesn't cost anything for updates and gets me where I want to go.
All of that and I can make phone calls, take pictures 12MP no less, play games, run diagnostics on OBD2 vehicles, listen to streaming music, watch movies, surf the web, send and receive email, and a hundred thousand other things, there's an app for everything with Android.
