Default 2013 loud bang in 4wd

I have a 2013 4wd f150. When I put it in 4wd and give it some good gas, after it shifts into 2nd gear, there is a loud repeated banging noise coming from the driver's side rear as well as the whole truck jerks. I had it in the dealership and they were able to verify it by driving the truck. They also verified it on another 2013 on the lot. Because they were able to recreate it on another vehicle, the fluids were clean, and unhooked the solenoid and it still made the noise, I was told that this is normal. It is far from normal and I refuse to live with it. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did the dealership do? I appreciate your help so I can get it taken care of.

Have it on my 2011, also have it on my 2013. It's normal in that Ford can't properly engineer transfer case engagement and manage power through the transfer case when changing from 2WD to 4WD.

I like it best when it's -20 and it grinds, bangs, and pops. That's fun stuff.

it doesnt do it when it engages.. the 4wd is engaged. It also doesnt do it when I mildly accelerate in 4wd. When i apply decent acceleration is when it happens.

Not to get personal but what kind of a rear end do you have?

If you are getting on it and causing wheel slip, are you sure you aren't hearing an LSD engage? Especially if you are turning and it clanks/clicks?

Someone correct me if I am wrong. I had a Jeep prior and this is my first Ford 4x4. Just got it and other than function tests and a test run on dirt, have not used my 4x4 yet. Is LSD Noise a problem on these?

Is the ground dry when you do this? If so that is the sound of the front differential crying.

It doesnt matter if the ground is dry or wet. The noise is coming from the drivers rear. It is a consistent banging/jerking noise after the truck shifts into 2nd gear in 4wd. Does not do it in 2wd and only does it under moderate-heavy acceleration. I'll have to look at what rear end is in the truck as I can not remember.

eld unlocking and locking backup, sounds like they need to open rear diff and inspect your locker. you do have the ELD not LSD? i have 2013 Screw 4x4 with ELD and mine does not do this, i think the rear unlocks around 20 mph. it tells in the owners manual.

I also have this problem on my 2013. It only happens sometimes. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't locate the problem. Just going to have to live with it until something breaks I guess

If you're shifting into 4wd on the fly try giving it a little bit more time. I was going up a snow covered Hill the other day in 2wd that wasn't bad then it turned to ice. I locked in the 4wd gave it a second or two then got back on the throttle. It banged and clunked quite a few times. I figured it didn't fully engage and since then I've given it a little more time to engage and haven't had the problem

If you are engauging the 4 wheel drive when the back tires are spinning it wont shift into 4x4... lots of grinding until the wheels slow down then big clunk... No 4x4 system will take that abuse...
