2013..keep it or trade up?

I’m asking myself the same question..2013 5.0. 40000 miles.. I’ve had the water pump go out...4 wheel drive switch go bad that locked my electric rear.(even though I’ve never used it). And today I just back from dealership after noticing coolant leaking. It’s the infamous t connector o ring...they want 450 dollars to fix but the part is back ordered because of the problem. Maybe weeks before they get it in. I just watched a YouTube video on how to replace the o ring so I may try fixing it myself. If I can find an o ring. While I was at the dealership I asked for an out the door price on a new model just for the hell of it. Love this truck but I’m second guessing Ford lately.

Powertrain is 60k/5yr. If you really have a tick, take it in.

Unfortunately most of us with the tick knows how that goes. I've been to several different dealers for my '13 and they all "couldn't hear it", or "couldn't replicate problem" or said "sounds normal".
Out of warranty now but the ticking hasn't produced any problems or gotten louder. Engine still runs strong, just has a slight tick that I only notice when I'm listening for it. Not as big a deal as it's made out to be, even though I made it a big deal back when I first noticed it on my truck

Since you stated "mint", "perfectly happy" and 23.5k original owner miles, agreed - keep it!
Mine only has prox 7.5k total miles since new - no way I'd sell it...

Keep It !!!!
Although I'm not original owner, my paid for 5.0 13 Lariat now has 28300 miles and is like new. While waiting for wife to get hair done today, I spent 1.5 hrs walking around many new F-150s (all trims) at the local Ford store. Told sales guy what I was doing, he said some are open, look all you want. Really like the Guard color, like the features on 502 Lariats, but my word !!! They are Expensive with a big E. Sat in and adjusted the seat in numerous Lariats & XLTs. Mine feels better to me (probably because it's paid for). I thought driver door extended farther in the cabin than mine (ours) does. I know there are nice "tech" advances, but mine does everything I need it for. And you cannot change the background display on the 8" screen on the new ones.
Just as you have read the "concerns" you have listed on the 09-14s, take a look at the "concerns" on the 15-18s. I have read on this forum stories of a few buy backs, 2.7 EBs being replaced with less than 5K miles, leaking sun roofs, vibrations, 3.5EBs with carbon on valves, 10 spd transmission issues, frozen door locks, etc.
15-18s are nice and the new ones smell good. I AM NOT putting down new generation at all. Been looking at them since I got mine.
I just cannot justify what it would cost me to trade right now.
My 5yr pwr train warranty will expire on time before mileage in March. If something expensive breaks, or it gets in an accident, I'll get a new one in a minute.
Just no reason now.
You pay your money and take your chance with any on them today. Good luck with your decision.

I have a 2013 with 55000 miles with the ecoboost. I love my truck. The new ones are amazing. My buddy just bought a 2018 5.0. Beautiful truck.
Having said all that, unless you have cash to buy a new one, KEEP IT! If it’s not paid off, pay it off and enjoy a debt free ride. Keep some cash aside in case issues come up and save to buy a new one once you have the money down the road. It’s rarely economical to get a new vehicle as opposed to fixing a paid off one unless it’s complete unreliable garbage.
Just my opinion......I could be wrong.

I dont want this to come across as belittling you or anything else so please dont take it that way. But you realize that you are worrying about things that have not happened yet? Your are litterally ready to spend and extra $20k on a NEW truck because of the possibility that a $5 to $500 thing COULD (and not a likely chance of it at all happening) happen and you dont have a warranty to cover said thing. Im trying to put it in perspective for you. Even if a $500 fix comes up (the rear window) that is 1 months truck payment on a new one. How many times could the rear window blow out in a year? I would bet its a 1% thing that happens to f150 owners. What if the engine lets go??? For a modern engine to let go at anything under 200k miles is UNHEARD of. That is 10x the miles you have currently. IMO you are going through the same process of burning your house down because you heard from a friend that spiders COULD be in a house. LOL
