Default Raptor Wheel Q's....and 5100s

Mr. DDA,

Happy to help out on the Raptor Wheel Install....I'm still amazed at how easy it was to do.

How are you going to set your Bilstein 5100s? I have mine on the third position up from the bottom.

The truck still has a small amount of rake...but it's level with my dirt bike in the bed.

Good luck with our new truck.

My last FX4 was at the top and that poor spring was just scrunched toooo much. For instance if I went over a parking lot speed bump, the front end would slam down (lack of better word) and it didn't sound good. I had them originally on the 1.5" but wanted more and found the former setting was a better one overall.

It was noticeably harsher at the top setting which I sort of expected.

I am going to put that glossy grille on this one though, glad I didn't let it go now.

I'll go ahead and ask, what size and length was that allen wrench?

Default It's about 6 1/2" long....

....oh....uh.....sorry.....

Yet...surprisingly...only 4mm across......

The "long arm" just needs to fit in the hole(s).....yikes....I've done it again....

And...um....uh.....reach the three grooved steel shafts....oh my....and gently push them out of the way of the spring-loaded clip thingy....

You can see two of the three silvery spring arms in the attached picture centered in the hole where the grooved steel shafts go...at the bottom and at the upper left.

You can also see the little tunnel next to the hole....where you will.....gently but firmly...insert your 4mm hexagonal...uh...persuader....and push the spring away from the grooved shaft...releasing the airbag module.....

"Release the Module!!..."

Oh...and a correction from my original post about installing the Raptor wheel: I said the wheel had a five-sided cutout that mated to the five-sided steering shaft.....Math being a weak subject....it's in fact six-sided....and clearly visible in the picture....

"Release the Hexagon!!!..."

OK...I gotta go lay down now....

that must have been an exhausting 'session'.. lol thanks Since I've decided to keep the glossy insert, I think it will look just fine on my truck!

Default Sunday Morning FX4 Security Upgrades

The nice man from UPS dropped off a package from TruckSecurity.com yesterday afternoon.

Here's what was in the box:

Hood Latch Guard: Covers the hood latch mechanism that can be reached and opened with a screwdriver through the grille

Gate Keeper: Covers the vulnerable right side pivot preventing easy theft of the tailgate

Plate Keeper: Security screws for front and rear license plates

Light Keeper: Security screws for taillights

All went on easily while I enjoyed my first coffee of the day.

Gate Keeper instructions say you need to remove the tailgate to install the cover, but I was able to remove the VERY tight Torx bolt (lots of red loctite on it) with a bit of help from my breaker bar.

There's also a security screw kit for the headlights....but I ordered the wrong one and will post an update when I get the right one.
