A little more description of the problem started with a vibration in the seat, but as we drove it a little more the vibration progressively became worse and I could see the rear corners of the bed actually shaking or bouncing going down the road and the steering wheel shaking slightly. When the tires were rebalanced and rotated one time, the truck shook after that. The steering wheel and gas and brake pedals were literally shaking going down the road. Wheels were rebalanced again, rotated and 2 new tires and the problem became a vibration again at speed of 20-35, 50, and 75+. At a constant speed of 50mph if I go around a gradual curve in the road I can the vibration in the seat and the steering wheel will shake back and forth. All scenarios lead a person to believe a rim(s) is bent.

Now the service manager is telling me that "Ford Digital imaging" is telling him they will not replace the rims until he spend the time attempting to "index" the wheels and tires. Now another 3 days has gone by and apparently that wasn't a priority and my truck is just sitting in the service area with chrome 18" rims. I am going to test drive it today to verify there is no vibration with different tires on them. Will keep you posted. This has been the worst vehicle purchase experience of my life!

If it doesn't fix the problem it is possible that an axleshaft flange is slightly out of spec causing a rear wheel to very slightly wobble. The fact thay it is shaking your truck, I can almost guarantee its not driveshaft or tranny.

I am having the same problem with 2013 Lariat. Vibration noticed right off the dealer’s lot… Took it to the back to the dealer after 800 miles to have it checked out. Still have vibration after wheels rebalanced. Dealer said they would need to have the vehicle for one or two additional days to work on the problem.

My wife an I test drove my truck yesterday. It has the 18" wheels & tires on it. It definitely drove much better, but still has a subtle but constant vibration at 50mph. I know there is a problem with the factory 20" rims, but now I think there is a problem with these trucks also. Hopefully I will hear from a Ford rep tomorrow.

Hi JCleary and flegdon,

I want to offer the same assistance to you guys that I have to others on the thread. Send me your information in a PM and I'll see what I can do to help; be sure to include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and preferred servicing dealership in your message.

Hi guys. I'm new here. I'm having the same issue as the OP. This my first post and my first time owning a F150. Last week I purchased a brand new 2013 FX4 Supercrew Ecoboost, 402a, with the 20 inch gun metal gray wheels. Driving it home I felt a vibration (like a tire was unbalanced). Didn't think much of it, assuming the tires just needed "broke in". Well... it's been 10 days and I've put 500 miles on the truck and the vibration is still very much there. I'm so frustrated, this is a 52K dollar truck. It should not be vibrating! I'll be taking back to the dealer after Thanksgiving, but I was hoping to hear from some of the other posters in this thread as to if they had any success correcting the issue? I hope this is not a sign of things to come. Love everything else about the truck, but this vibration HAS to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Many Thanks
Scott

After several weeks of my truck being in the shop, I have come to the resolution that it is the Pirelli tires. I test drove another truck just like mine with 7 miles on it and the 20" gray rims and the Pirelli Scorpion tires and it drove bad also. I then drove another FX4 with the appearance package black 20" rims and the black wall Bridgestone Dueler tires on it and it drove much better. So, for all of you who have the vibration issues and have the Pirelli Scorpion 20" tires, I believe that is the issue. I am not sure if Ford will do anything about these tires, but I will post any resolutions I get. I suggest you keep taking your trucks back to your service center and have them document the vibration problem.

It's the scorpions. Two trucks w your issue. On our 2012 I took the scorpions off w less than a hundred miles and installed Michelin LTX-MS2's. Wore great w lots of tread left at 62,000. Trading it in on a 13' and putting the scorpions back on so truck has new tires on it and a better trade. New truck has the Bridgestone's and they are vibration free and quiet. Dealers know about this. Have them put a set of wheels/tires w Bridgestone's off another truck on lot to prove it's the tires and not anything else.

Mines a 2012 Larait SC 5.0 with the 20"s & Pirellis with 22k .It starts to vibrate at 75mph and higher. At first I thought it was the road but it happens everytime anywhere.

Another vote for the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza. I have been very pleased with these tires so far at 13k miles. Very quiet on the road, durable, good traction in the dry and wet. I live in North Texas, so the occasional snow (none so far on these tires though). And if it's ice, I just stay home until about 10:30 am and then head to work after everybody else has played crash up derby. Plus, they are $600 for a set right now on tire rack. With a treadwear rating of 700 its hard to go wrong. These will go back on the truck again.....
