Yeah I saw a video about a 2011 model and it didn't have an automatic belt tensioner. There was a very specific way that he had to do it using zip ties and turning the crank. So the 2013 looks to be redesigned?

I can't see why the 2011 had no tensioner. It should, who's gonna be tightening the belt every so many miles.
Anyways yes the 13 has it

Of all the years I've worked on Fords, 35+ The only ones I worked on without an auto tensioner used v-belts (ancient technology) Ford has been using auto tensioners for at least 25 years on ALL engines. Post a link to this video you speak of, I want to see this unicorn. I think your confusing a timing chain/belt replacement procedure because that is how some are done.

Here you go. There are two belts, not one. And there is no auto-tensioner. WTF?

The Mustang GT apparently has the same issue and there are videos about that also.

I guess when I get time, I'll finally pop my hood and see if it's been redesigned or not.

That's not a 5.0 engine which is what the op asked about, that's either a 3.7 or 3.5TT a/c belt and very damned strange at that, the FEAD belt does have a tensioner however on all engines.

It is a 5.0 Coyote engine.

See this video about the same issue on Mustang (fast forward to 1:01):

That's not a truck is it? Try to stay on topic instead of thinning the thread with confusion.

Actual (shamefully dirty) F150 5.0 engine.
That would be the belt tensioner.

3 year old: "Daddy! I told you to put the milk ON the cereal, not IN the cereal!!"

That's what it's like talking to you. It makes so little sense that I don't even know where to begin.

Let's try this again....

The 5.0L V8 is used in Mustang and F-150 both. It's not rocket surgery. I provided two video examples of these engines with NO automatic belt tensioners. So it's not up for debate...they don't have them.

My question was, did Ford redesign this for 2013? Some have shown evidence that they did in this tread and I just wanted to confirm. And yesterday I finally took a break from work and popped my own hood and yes, in fact, they did because my truck has an auto-tensioner for the A/C belt. I suppose there is one for the FEAD belt also. Which is great news, because it will make changing the belts much easier.

I'll save the money and do the job myself, rather than paying the dealer $140 to do it. I typically always work on my own stuff, but lately I've just been too busy and admittedly the truck is getting neglected.

You need to learn to NOT hijack other peoples threads with your own questions, that in itself is rude. I'll leave you here and just add you to my ignore list and avoid the xmas rush.
