Default 2013 front brake issues

I have about 20,000 miles on 4x4 crew cab lariat f150. I am already noticing issues with my front brakes when I come to stops. There is a surge when coming to a stop, not quite a shutter yet. Could the rotors already be warped? Anyone else have this problem with factory brakes?

I haven't had a problem, but it could be a rotor.

I had to have the front rotors replaced on my '11 Lariat this past April due to warping. At the time I had about 31-32,000 miles or so on her, I think. I do tow a 14x7 tandem axle trailer. I have a Polaris Ranger and tow it mostly in the fall during hunting season. And then a couple of times thru the year. I go out to West Virginia. It's about a 265 mile trip. First half is mostly flat and then I go thru the mountains. My property is on top of a mountain and the lane leading up to it is around a 9% incline, and has a few areas that are as high as 13%. In those areas I have to crawl up and down the mountain on a private dirt lane. So when I'm going down I have to stay on the brakes all the way down. So I figured that was the major reason for the warpage.

Bad pad material transfer. That's my opinion. At least that was what it was on my truck at 22k miles. The techs at my dealer showed me how it gives the illusion of a warped rotor.

Not saying that is what is happening to your truck, but worth looking into. Especially if you get it fixed under warranty, then in the future when your warranty is up, and it happens again, if you somehow didn't burnish the pads correctly. It could save you some money.

Sounds like it's time to swing by the dealership, adub. Additionally, I'm happy to get this into the hands of your regional customer service manager; just send me a PM with your info and I'll bring this to their attention. In your message, be sure to include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and preferred servicing dealership.

I needed new breaks because of bad pads and rotors @ 11,000 miles. no warranty was issued for my truck. stealership blamed it because I did not drive it for 75 days in the summer. before I stopped using the truck I washed out the breaks real good and oiled everything well. I also parked it beside my 06 chev for the same time. the chevy started right up and I drove away. the 2011 ford also needed a boost to start! this dealer has lost my business. how can I trust them with any future work while under the warranty period!! 3 years warranty should mean 3 years if your under the mileage clause with no worries! I've always overserviced all my rides of the last 35 years. I still like these new f150s but repairing is not a fun trip to the dealer. I always owned chevys until I bought 2 new f150s in 2011. I still have the 06 chev and keep it mint.

I will get that info over to you Crystal.
Yea, I was hoping wouldn't already be pads and/or rotors it sounds like it is. Are pads and rotors covered under warranty? I thought they weren't.

Wasn't covered when I had my rotors replaced. They are wear items and are considered maintenance. If you have the Premium Maintenance Plan, which is separate from the warranty, it does cover brake pads, but I'm sure rotors are not.
