Default 2013 Ford f150 Brake Failure

This scared the crap out of my today, my kids were in the backseats. Thank God I was just in a parking lot. I have a 2013 F150 FX4 ecoboost. I touched the brake pedal and it went all the way to floor, then right after that the warning low brake fluid light came up on the dash. Basically had no to minimal brakes so I pulled into a parking spot. Popped the hood and no brake fluid. So got a ride to the autoparts store, filled the reservoir with fluid but it did nothing and the pedal went to the floor. So then I had my truck towed to the local ford dealership where I am at because I am out of town. Still waiting on them to even look at it, tell me what the issue is and when they can fix it.

Does anyone know anything about this issue of sudden loss of brake fluid and then no break pedal?

thanks for any input

Your truck was recalled over a year ago for this problem. If you are too lazy or too clueless to get it fixed then you only have yourself to blame when you nearly have an accident with your kids in the car.

Did you see brake fluid anywhere on the ground? My bet would be you broke a brake line and the fluid escaped and then sucked in a bunch of air.

If not that then maybe a vacuum booster line (i believe the 2013 has vacuum boosted brakes) but that shouldn't explain the loss of fluid.

The brake fluid leaked frpm the master cylinder into the brake booster. You won't see any fluid on the ground. It is all in the brake booster.

@Missmy06 I didn't receive anything about a recall and holy **** you are right.

Recall:

Does anyone know what a manufactures responsibility is to get these recall notices out to the buyers of their products?

Ford sends a letter to your last known address.

Legally they don't have anymore responsibility of proper notice? How could they even confirm it was sent and or received?

WOW

hahahha, so they basically send one letter and then hope it was received? Well that sucks.

Did your address change since your purchased the truck? Did you update that info with ford if it did?

I also always ask about any new recalls whenever I take my truck in for service (actually my dealership just tells me about them and fixes them), especially when it is under the 60,000 mile mark. Or you can use that website you linked where you can check by vin. Ford only has one way to contact you about a recall, but you have many ways to investigate if one does exist for your truck.
