So I took the stock muffler off my truck this weekend. It still has the factory resonator, and I just dumped it out the side by the rear tire. I had a local muffler shop do the final bends and they only charged my $25.00. It is definitely aggressive and pretty loud but it sounds great and the resonator does a good job of making the exhaust sound good. For $25.00 you cant beat it.

Does it resonate in the cab?

It does a little. But I haven't been in a truck with another exhaust system to tell you if its better or worse than others

Not too shabby for only $25. Call me crazy, but didn't some '97 F-150's have this tailpipe location in front of the rear tire, and it actually causes issues of lug nuts seizing onto the studs from exhaust soot?

Why does this work? I feel like it would sound like absolute **** without a muffler. At least that's what the old rust buckets driving around town sound like when their mufflers fall off.

Because of the resonator. The resonator acts like a mini muffler. Pretty much straight through but it refines the sound a bit and gives it a little tone. I actually can't believe how much this sounds like my Solo MR400s did. It makes sense, since that kit used only a resonator and no muffler.

I feel that if I had duals exiting by the bed it would be absolutely perfect. It would project the sound away from the cab a bit more. But overall it's great.
